I got bored one afternoon and saw a can of BBQ paint. By the way the exhaust is the old school RSR. thoughts, comments, concerns. I'm trying to go for the Noir esque.

And I've been spending all this time trying to remove the black paint overspray on my exhaust... maybe I should just give in to the BBQ method.

Whoa! Two questions for you...

1. Really, now, what kind of gains did you see from doing that to the exhaust?

2. How does the BBQ paint compare, price-wise, to the Rustoleum flat black? The Galant is getting closer to a full paint job with each passing day. (Come to Desert Storm and you might get a peek!)

2.* Does this mean you're getting back into the 2GNT, boss?

1. No power gain. Just obtained a more steathly apperance in hopes of warding off unecessary attention.

2. They shoud be the same price. BBQ paint from Walmart was 6$. I sprayed about 6 coats on the muffler/pipe and have enough for touch ups.

I like the powdered apperance after the paint dries. I do not have prior experience with Rustoleum flat black.

My 2gnt will be with me until the day it falls apart... and the Neon too :P

Seriously though, if you want to help me paint the rally talon with BBQ paint, I'm up for it. I'm curious to see how your paint holds up, how much prep - degreasing especially - did you do first?

My last talon got a Scheib paint job that literally melted off when I sprayed it with tire cleaner at the coin wash. Try it out in a week, go hit the muffler with tire cleaner, then pressure wash it and tell me how it goes.

I'm down with the flat black, even if it is marginally ricer and a nightmare to maintain. I wish there were flat clearcoats.
