21031, New word: Sheeplemover Posted by thedawg, Feb-15-07 06:57 AM
I would just like to publicly coin the word "Sheeplemover".
As of now, there are 0 results returned from Google, and only 10 results for "sheeple mover", only one remotely within the context of cars.
Those of you lucky enough not to live in Chicago or Los Angeles have not seen the droves of Sheeplemovers yet, but I assure you they're coming.
A Sheeplemover is: - An alternative fuel compact car for the sheer purpose of proclaiming that you have an alternative fuel car. - Anything that is marketed as a "gas sipper". - Anything that costs at least 25% more than a comparable car, and gets less than 25% better gas milage. - Any vehicle endorsed by the United States Government or EPA as "the future". - A vehicle traveling in the carpool lane with only one person in the car. - Typically driven by someone who wants to protect the environment, but could give a fuck about other drivers in their immediate vicinity.

So, I fail to see why driving a sheeplemover has a negative connotation. Attempting to do something positive for the environment, and therefore everyone around them, is wrong why?

Sounds like someone didn't see the episode of south park where everyone buys hybrids

Perhaps it has to do with how most of the people who are buying these overpriced tin cans do so more out of a sense of social status than actual desire to help the environment. They either want to impress others or just bogart the CHOV during rush hour while they yap into their cell phones about something trvial.
How many SUV owners actually make use of that torquey V8 and 4WD? :wary

I like it. The definition should also include the bigger sheeplemovers (2ton+ SUV hybrids) that will be powered on ethanol. EtOH, the politically supported "fuel-of-the-future", that still takes more crude oil to produce than the energy it provides. Gotta' love the MSM's complete lack of coverage of that single fact.
Sheeplemover sounds like any kind of public transportation, though. How about "ecosheeple" ???

First off I’m not sure where the statistic that most people who buy fuel-efficient vehicles do it for a status symbol is coming from. But isn’t that the reason behind the purchase of nearly all vehicles. Sure, you have those individuals who buy something simply to get from here to there, or for functional reasons. However, status is why we have high end cars. People drive a Lexus for what is associated with the name. We all know it’s just a expensive Toyota, but there is a higher social status.
I fail to see how SUV owners are in the same category. Lets just suppose, for the sake of an example, that there are two people. One drives an SUV for the status, the other a hybrid for the status. Both are doing it for the "wrong" reasons, but one is doing a lot more damage than the other. I guess I’m trying to say, I am more about the final result than the rationale. If someone really wants to drive a fuel-efficient car because they think it makes them look cool then let them. I would rather that than another unnecessary SUV or pickup on the road.
And you’re right, I did not see the South Park with hybrids. However, if I had, I’m sure I would have laughed no matter what the message was.

I do! But mine is a torquey I6. That I6 pulled the Talon and an Auto-Transport trailer very well. 4WD is good for helping pull people out of the ditch when the Trailblazer is sitting on deep snow... I just like to use my recovery rope with big hooks on it.

Sheeplemover would have to apply to everyone who buys huge suv's too just because it is cool.
We should have different catergories
Engery Efficent cars. 3200lbs and under: Sheeplecart
Energy Efficent suv's/trucks. 3201 lbs +: sheepleseater
SUV's/Trucks that are bought for status: Fucktards.

If you don't live in LA or one of the larger cities where these things have become popular (with the wrong people), you haven't gotten to experience how terrible their owners are yet. I'm sure the vast majority of them also own, or just traded in the lease on, a giant V8 SUV.
Maybe it's a fluke of marketing or something, but I hate every hybrid owner already.

fuckers can spend money but still can drive with the rest of the public anyway. I want to plow right into one of them fuckers who pull out in front of you as they try to accelerate. I could run faster yet they still pull out in from of me when I am moving barely 45Mph.
