12703, dude on ebay LONG Posted by CarbonFiberRST, Jul-23-06 03:48 PM
I won this auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=160006120677&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
I got the injectors that "never saw fuel" and as soon as I opened the packaging I was overwhelmed with the smell of gas. So I left nuetral feed back "Injectors Used, advertised as New. Poor Packaging. They work, good price C+" and he replied with "You are mistaken. They were bought new on eBay, and NEVER fired."
So, we have a conversation over a few days through ebay messaging.
ME: Once I opened the envelope I was overwhelmed with the smell of gas. In your auction you stated they NEVER saw fuel. You lied.
HIM: Hey, Mr. Get Shorty.... don't get your panties all in a bunch. How about asking me WHY they smelled of gas, huh?? But no, you just assumed I lied. Nice. These injectors were sitting in a box with an old fuel system I had removed which still had some residual of gas left in the lines. When the box was moved some of that spilled on a few injectors (which were removed from their original packaging because I was going to install them, but never did). THAT is why you smelled gas. NO OTHER REASON. Believe what you will, but take into consideration that the next time you decide to play judge AND jury, get ALL your facts.
ME: You said 'These injectors were never installed and never saw fuel.' Now you just told me they did see fuel. If you ended that sentence at installed then you'd be correct and I'd be the idiot but you continued and said they 'never saw fuel'. I'm satisfied and belive the price was fair even if they were used but you said they never saw fuel and they did. False advertisement. Simple.
HIM: Oh my god man, you obviously do NOT know the difference. Having a few drops of fuel spill on a few of them DOES NOT mean gas flowed THROUGH them. If you still think that, then go have them inspected and flow tested. That can determine run time and wear. When I said 'never saw fuel' that meant they were NEVER fired and gas NEVER flowed to OR through them. I had intended to install them BUT DIDN'T! Do you get it now? If this doesn't make sense to you than you've got more problems than I can address. Oh and just so you know..... ALL new injectors are flow tested for tolerances to makes sure the flow rates are matched. I'm done with this bull shit.
I think its funny that he got all bent out of shape over it since even if they were slightly used I still got a bangin deal, I just wanted him to admit that he shouldn't have stated they were NEW AND NEVER SAW FUEL... Should I contact ebay since he's being an ass and admited that he lied in his auction description?
EDIT: Also, can I reply to his reply in the feedback?

You can reply to his feedback, but I don't know what you can do as far as flase advertising goes.
That's kinda messed up, though.

I would take them down and have them tested. Explain your situation to the guy doing the test (maybe call first to see if they can test for such a thing). If they can tell you the injectors had been used, then you can submit your proof from a reputable source, along with his less-than-professional comments to eBay and let them make the call.
Personally, I see you got a slammin' deal and we all know what it means when someone says injectors "Never saw fuel." It means they were never installed and used. Unless they come back as being used injectors, I think you should just stop looking this gift horse in the mouth, personally.

Truth, imo.
Let it go. He has a 400+ rating and you have 18... 'nuff said. I highly doubt he would risk his rep over some comments, besides ebay has no concern whatsoever as long as both parties got their respective agreements met.

I was only meaning to focus on how he responded. Not the issue of fuel or no fuel. I know it was a good deal even if they were used for a short time. I have never known the saying "never saw fuel" to universally mean they could be doused in fuel but only that they were not actually installed. But anyway. Forget it.

He's on ebay since 1999 with 6 negatives out of over 505 total sales?
In my opinion you're making a mountain out of a mole hill.
If you find proof positive that the injectors were used then complain to ebay otherwise, move on.

Ebay won't do anything for you even if you could prove they were used. Yes you can reply to his reply to your original feedback
