11998, Wow, so much just happened in the 3000GT/Stealth world.

Well a local shop here called Altered Atmosphere used to have the 3000GT/Stealth world record for a couple years at 10.7 or 10.8 and then last year Dynamic Racing went 10.6 and a NON-SHOP car went 10.4 where the record stood. At our national gathering a couple weeks ago, another shop in NY finally broke the record and went 10.3 w/ his VR4 that puts down close to 900AWHP w/ full interior, horrible suspension, a sweet paint job and some heavy wheels.

EARLIER this week, the FWD Twin turbo shop car went 10.6 and finally break it's 10.8 time from earlier in the year. the FWD TT was the first car (AWD OR FWD) to break 140mph trap speed.

TONIGHT I get home to find that the FWD TT car went 10.1 @ 140mph!!! and as I get to the 6th page or so another link has been added showing another thread that started 20 mins after the FWDTT record was broken saying that the Dynamic Racing AWD car broke the record and went 9.7 @ 151mph!!! So the world record was broken twice in the same night not even an hour apart. I just thought I'd share that cause it's amazing. The NY shop owner isn't in the thread yet but his car should be able to go 9's to. It's amazing how long it took for a 3/S to get in the 9's but it's still nothing compared to DSM's, Supra's etc.

The world record car from Dynamic Racing is still running the stock block and I believe the stock cams and the FWDTT isn't running nitrous yet and was getting 1.5 60ft's. Not bad for heavy ass pig cars.

Well, I've had the privilege of riding in a FWDTT car and it hauled major tail. We upgraded to twin 15Gs, dejon piping, and 550s. Shortly thereafter we blew the kormex up, put a hole in the bellhousing and ruined a clutch.

We put the stock diff back in with a stock clutch to ease around on until the quiafe came in but she popped again. Right now its sitting in the garage.

15Gs at 15psi on 10:1CR is insane. It was running 8.2s at 91 with 2.3 60fts.

I'm trying to talk him into going with the M6 if we can find a tranny with the linkage and whatnot.

These cars are quite heavy.

What I don't understand is how a 900 AWHP car only goes 10.3. My brother's car only put down like 660 and went 9.4's. It weighed something a little over 3200 (class weight requirement), and the 3kgt is something like 3600, right? Hell, even if it was 3800 lbs, theoretically, that should be a 10 flat pass if it had the same HP as my brother's car (the 100 lb = 0.1 sec rule of thumb). 240 more HP should be something like 2 seconds faster, imo. That's like adding a 240 shot of nitrous to a car.

It's fast, none the less, and I'm not trying to downgrade the world records, I just don't understand how a car near the 1000 AWHP mark wasn't pushing a 9-flat.

The AWD's have a weak t-case and transmission, which is why it took soooo many years to beat the old record of 10.7. The cars do weight a lot (3800) but Supra weight a lot to. Large twin upgrades don't work to well on VR4's cause they don't spool fast enough and not many people shell out the $ for custom single turbo manifolds and piping but we have a couple people using GT-42's now. Stroker kits are being released now so that will help out.
I should also mention that the 10.3 run was done at the National Gathering in Indiana or Michigan (I forget) and he drove his car from NY to the meet. He said once he got home he would push the car harder and break stuff to join the other car in the 9's. There isn't much support from companies w/ our cars either. A year ago maybe 5 people were in the 10's and now there are at LEAST 25 and that list is growing by the month. Basically anyone won get EVO 16G's w/ the right fuel system can put down over 600AWHP and break into the 10's. My friend had 14b's on his VR4 and ran mid 11's. He has now switched to twin 20G's and put down over 700AWHP!

The guys at altered atmosphere do know their stuff. They have tuned some pretty amazing 350Z's too.
