11760, Isn't it nice when the 2gnt finally gives you a break?

Lately my car has been leaking oil, and a good amount. So I started looking one day and it looked like it was coming from the HG area, and I was like shit I'm gonna have to pull this head again, since I just did the HG about 5 mos ago. I waited to fully look at it till today when it was due for an oil change. I get under her, start looking up, and right above the alternator bracket I see it. A nice river of oil coming from....the VC gasket. Talk about a relief. Half an hour and a new gasket later, she's fixed and that river of oil dried up. Thought I would share one of the few and rare times the 2gnt has given me a break.

It's still a break. It's just not going to let you off scot-free.

It's bad when you start celebrating because you MIGHT have found the cause of one of your problems. Once that happened to me, I realized that my car is one of the least reliable in California.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to finish redoing my oil pan gasket for the third time in 5 months. (Oil pan jobs SUCK on awd models).

No, I've used RTV every time. First time I spread the rtv evenly around the pan. Second time I used a bead running on the inside and a bead running on the outside of the bolt holes. This time I am running a single bead in the center except where the bolt holes are. I degreased the block side to make it a better surface. Hopefully it will work out this time. Also, the last time I did it, I used an oil pan from my parts car so I don't think its a bent pan issue. It's just a dsm issue. lol
