11224, You ever get food poisoning from a restaurant? Posted by Keith2172, Jun-22-06 11:08 AM
So, I got a double quarter pounder at the McDonalds down the street from my office. Number one, the fuckers forgot to give me my extra cheeseburger, so I had to go back in there to get it, but that is besides the point. What follows is a summarized version of the events leading me to believe that they are fuckers and I may be getting sick/rich soon. I get the bag of food and check it to see if they remembered my cheeseburger. When I picked up the quarterpounder box a large amount of fluid (oily in appearance, almost like burger grease, but a lot) flowed out onto the bottom of the bag. I got my cheesburger and left. I sit down at my desk and start eating. I notice the burger is mushy, but figured the 'grease' had soaked into the bun and thats what I was feeling. Halfway through eating I look down and notice the ketchup looks odd, then I realize that is not ketchup, it's the pink meat of my burger. I freeze. I've gotten food poisoning before, the time I remember most was from Carl's Jr. The meat was the same texture, and I was throwing up for three days afterwards. If I get sick from this burger, it's going to seriously fuck up my weekend, and if McDonalds fucks up my weekend, I'm gonna be pissed. I already took pictures of the inside of the burger, and I showed some of my co-workers so I have witnesses. I also still have the burger sitting next to me, and I can't figure out if I should bag it and stick it in the fridge or toss it in the trash. If I do get sick (and I mean throwing up for three days sick, not just a case of the shits) I don't really know what kind of retribution I can get. I'd love money, but my luck says thats not going to happen. I'd settle for a burning down of their building, but I don't want to go to jail (I'm to pretty to go to jail). Anyone have any experience with this?

I've never really had a problem with food poisoning. I have ate completly raw beef before.(I honestly thought I was supposed to, they severed it to me raw and covered in sauce. It turned out I was supposed to use my superheated plate to cook it myself.) I actually liked it quite a bit. I eat almost all my steaks as rare as they can get it. I've also tried raw hamburger. It was too chewy for my taste. I only do this with beef though. Chicken and Pork, I always want that well done.
Hope you don't get too sick. Good luck.

I enjoy a rare steak now and then, it's not that, like I mentioned aove I've gotten sick from a fastfood place before. This is a picture of the burger I was eating, I cut it open for 'evidence' purposes

You have a less likely chance of obtaing food poisioning from a steak than you do with ground beef. One major difference is the surface area between the two. Bacteria thrives on ground beef due to its large surface area. A solid piece of steak has less.
Pretty much you can get food poisioning from anythign that isn't transported, stored, prepared, or cooked correctly. Hell even after cooking it properly, if the server has a open sore anywhere and comes in contact with you food, you will likely have food poisioning.
I would bring that shit back to Mc Donalds and bring it to the attention to the Store Manager. See if they can document this on paper.

that's kinda what I'm thinking about, but at the same time I'm kinda worried that they'll say, "alright sir, we'll take care of that right away" and then trash the burger and deny everything.

If you do get sick, report it to your local public health department. Your medical provider can do this for you too. Investigating food poisioning is one of the responsiblities of local public health departments, and they will do everything necessary to analyze the situation and correct it. When an outbreak of food poisoning occurs in an area, the investigation can go quickly if many of the people involved describe their history in the past few days. Which comes to you - Your responsiblity is simply to report it.

Well, luckily my weekend was not ruined by an ever present need to crap my intestines out while vomitting for forty feet in either direction. Still won't eat there again though!
