11078, Time to move on... Posted by FlyinEsi, Jun-19-06 01:34 PM
I don't know how many people pay attention in the 4g63/1G section, but I've been having problem after problem with my new GSX ever since I bought it after wrecking my last one. Finally it pushed my last button, pulled the last straw, I'm done with it as a daily driver. It decided to blow the headgasket and blow a water line.
I decided to hold off on project "Phoenix" and get a real daily driver.
Here are the pics of the new ride. 2003 Audi A4 1.8T

Until I can save up some money and get the eclipse paid off, I'm just going to be sitting on a few parts laying around the garage.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point. I have a motor and all the supporting mods to make 600+ AWHP, but now I'm so downhearted about my project, I'm 1) not sure when I'll get around to finishing it, and 2) not sure if I'm going to keep the X when I'm done with it.
I'm thinking about finishing it up later this summer and just selling it to put some money in the bank for a downpayment on a house, or preparing to get married in the next couple years.
What would you guys do?? I'm really torn here...

I would keep the car, Dan.
1. You now have reliable, upscale daily transportation. 2. You have fixed nearly every problem with this car up to this point. 3. You have all the big purchases made and done with. 4. It's damn near paid off.
So...
1. You don't have to worry about it stranding you. 2. You don't have to worry about making a payment on it once it's paid off. 3. It's almost to the point where you can afford to let it sit for a few months if you wanted to.
Just my thoughts...

nice choice on daily driver. I'm also looking for one of them. as for the GSX, if you can afford to keep both cars, and get the house you want, and have some $ left for some savings, AND you still love to work on it then keep it.

I've already figured out I'll have about $20K into the car when I get my suspension/wheels back on and the motor dropped in, plus the $9K pricetag I paid for it.
I think I would test the waters at around $18 to try to get 1/2 back of what is into it, but I would settle around the $15-16K range, if nobody wanted it for that price, I would just be forced to hang onto it. :)
By the way: Whodatt: The Audi is a very nice ride. Firm suspension around corners, yet extremely comfortable on the highway. Definitely not a FUN ride, but it gets me back and forth to work.

you wont get 16k, miteaswell drop that idea, even if you have the dyno slip to prove 600AWHP.

I have been sending e-mails to some of the more highly modified Ebay sellers and they have been getting $16-$19 for their cars, so I wouldn't totally rule it out.

Wait 3-4 weeks and I bet I can change your mind about selling it :). That is if you haven't started it up and had it change your mind itself :P.

good to hear! I've always liked them... so i finally gave in, either an A4 or a Saab 9-5 turbo (can't really beat heated AND cooled seats :) ) have a couple I'm looking at that are in my price range...I already have a house and am married, so the $ is tight. ;)

Your gas mileage is that good? Had no idea. Maybe I should consider test driving the Z we got on our used car lot :-)

Yup. Those are 80%highway and 20%city though. I would get like low 20s with all city however and probably 27-28mpg all highway.
