I saw it. The premise isn't all that bad if handled with skill and some imagination but nah. Let's put lots of shiny and neon. At least the Evo was pretty.

I just got back from seeing it, not the best movie in the world, but by FARRR better than the last 2 combined, and they earn extra points for not lying to everyone by saying vin would return..even if it was for maybe 5 mins screen time....

Now, about the mustang....consider this about the movie: The mustang was in japan, and was nothing but a shell from the looks of it. Now, think about how hard it would be to get an american v8 over there....probably about like getting an rb26 here in the states...PLUS the kid had limited money by that time(apparently), so yea...that's a reason as to WHY in the movie.....where they got the idea is beyond me...

I did get to see the car in person at Drift Atlanta...as well as the orange RX-7, the flat black 350z, and the Evo... out of the 3 the mustang and evo were the cleanest overall...the bodywork on the 350 was SEVERLY lacking...and the rx-7 had fair body work...but it was ruined by the front windshield trim MISSING and being replaced with black electrical tape...

but yea..overall the movie was good, it actually surprised me..i was going in expecting another thing like 2F2F...but with over 90% of the stunts being live action, it made up for the usual rough acting...

So how much plot depends on dialogue? I'm assuming 0%, but I'll be seeing it auf Deutsch. Should be interesting.

Are you really? This is TFATF we're talking about here. I don't think they can rice out an old corolla to the level of some of their previous cars.

Well, there WAS a corolla that made a short appearance on screen, but wasnt drifting, the character named han and the main antagonist(takashi) made a wager... a '76 skyline(han's) for a fully tuned 86 corolla, and han had lucas' character race one of takashi's crew, but it was 350z and an evo running with the skyline and toyota as the prize, and the corolla got like...1.5 seconds of screen time, lol....

also, something that surprised me is actually how realistically modifed the cars were(I saw lots of professional U.S. drift cars in the scenery). The only major neon I saw was on the vans, and well..as the 70s showed us, vans have no rules when it comes to what you put on or in them....but as for the cars..just lots of vinyl as is par for the franchise...it was refreshing, however, to see a stock viper and an hotrodded old school monte carlo(it was like, white, with a black primer hood) beat the shit out of each other...

I couldn't stop laughing when I saw what's his face from Home Improvement w/ the Viper. I know they showed a 86 in the movie and they did the wager vs the Datsun but they should of SHOWED the Datsun and drifted the 86. o well. My favorite part of the movie was........

"Ready", SET-O!!!" before the 2 races.

Alot more action in this one, wasn't bad, imo.

Only one was RB26 swapped and that one didn't even run. Some of the cars they used in filiming were SR20DE and SR20DET motors in the silvia. Keep in mind this is for filming purposes, in the movie it's SUPPOSE to be an RB26 swapped silvia.

ahaha check out what the ricers were doing right after the premiere of the movie.

I saw it and judged against the first two, the movie is the Shawshank Redemption in comparison... really entertaining driving scenes, and they actually listened to the criticisms of the second one (that the movie should reflect the real life trends and not try to set them) so the cars are all in all really nice. The movie was way more accurate then the last two, you can tell that Han's orange RX-7 has a heavily ported rotary... sounded amazing, they didn't downplay the cars at all in this one.

Really I am so impressed with this movie words fail. Its not great by any means, but since I watched it with low standards expecting something terrible like 2F2F, I was totally floored.

edit: to the OP, man that was a 5 minute MONTAGE! we all know montage time is actually like 500 times real time to screen time, so it took them like 2 weeks to build the car and get it dialed it :P

i liked it much more than the 2nd, it seems to be more about cars than any of the others, not bad to me. wonder what the 4th is gonna do now?

The only bad part in that movie that made me cringe and laugh at the same time is when Bow was telling him how to drift by "pulling the ebrake". IDK, just thought that was wrong. The EVO was nice, converted to RWD, and I loved the ported rotary in Han's RX7. By far the best F&F movie yet.

pulling the e-brake is just one of the many methods. Usually for fwd cars though.

FWD cars can't drift, LOL!! They slide. The e-brake could be used with the RWD car just for an instant to break traction I guess.

Yeah, LADA is the brand, soviet copy of a FIAT from the 70's, 1.3 and 1.5l makes some 50-60hp but the important thing - it's dirt cheap now and its RWD :D

I kinda drifted once in my AWD. I took a turn a little too tight mashing 2nd in the wet with worn rear tires and all of a sudden the rear swung about. I did get it straight but if it was RWD I'd have ended in the guardrail :)

btw for real drifting see Initial D (the movie, there's also an anime but the movie is real stuff).

Yeah, I've owned tons of the Initial D episodes for years now. Major hit in Japan.


The e-brake is used in drifting RWD cars to initiate the drift, then the throttle to modulate it. Yeah cringe you say, most people here think drifting is a form of racing, it's not unless your car has more acceleration force than lateral grip (meaning your car can't handle worth a shit, Ex: a high power Mustang). If Americans understood it, they would say it's for show, but they said it best actually in that movie when they said it's like a form of dancing. It's not the quickest way from point A to point B, nor is suppose to be.

I guess the reason they have those "drift races" in Japan is 1) to show off and 2) when know one is looking but the 2 racers, that whole "honor" thing they are into.

Fast and Furious 3 is out already? WTF? What the fuck am I missing back in the states?
