10678, WORLD CUP... USA!

USA game in 20 mins vs Czech Republic. I'm excited to see what all of the hype is about w/ Czech, since they were ranked #2 in the world behind Brazil. I had no idea they were THAT good. I can't wait to see Ronaldinho and Brazil play their games to. Even Pele thinks he is the best brazilian player ever (besides himself) Anyone else excited about the world cup?

isnt it spelled Ronaldiño? any ways ive seen it spelled like that over here in Mexico. and Mexico is gona kik ass! we've beat brazil before, but some how lost to worst teams, like the US, no offense. We just beat Iran 3-1 who has beat the Czech Rep. and lost only to Japan its last games, and japan is crazy. Good luck to all teams! :thumbsup

I'm rooting for USA and Mexico. I watched Mexico and Iran's game on my g/f's dad's giant plasma TV. That was sweet.

Japan just got OWNED by Australia 3-1. All 3 goals were scored after the 84th minute!!! Mexico looked pretty good in their first game. I was a fan of the 5'4 sub who scored on a header!! I'm at work now but one of the techs has a TV in the back and there is one in the customer lounge I'm going to change now.

gol!

It would be nice if USA could represent in the world cup. If there was more coverage (in English), I would definitely watch more fussball. ;)

Terrible from the US today. This is why American soccer isn't respected by the rest of the world. Just an awful showing by the National team. After the first goal they pretty much gave up. If they lose to Italy on Saturday they are done. I think they are done anyway right now. They looked like they didn't even belong there in a world cup match.

Wow they got owned. 3-0 for those that missed it. Czech looks like they might be the team to beat this year, besides Brazil. If that one HUGE striker gets healthy, they are a hard team to deal w/ on crosses and headers.

The only time I really got into it was in 98, I was in France during some of the games. I partied with the Scotts, Chileans, and many others. I had a lot of fun.

Other than that, I don't have much time to follow much of anything except my own projects :-/

Dave have you been watching any of the other games? Only match I've missed so far was England and apparently I didn't miss much.

Looking forward to watching Ronaldinho play tomorrow with Brazil.

Portugal looked good in their match with Angola. I expected more from Christiano Ronaldo though. He wasn't playing like he usually does with Man U. He's still pretty young though at only 21. Figo looked good as usual.

I'm surprised Angola held Protugal after the goal in the very begining. Christian Ronaldo is to much of a show off and has nothing on Ronaldinho. I missed the early games, due to hanging out to late, and I have been at work and only watched the games I was really interested in. I can't wait until the Brazil game tomorrow!

Yea I know C. Ronaldo is no Ronaldinho. He's got a lot of moves but they don't turn into much. Now it's 2-0 Italy so any hope the US had for a draw in this match is pretty much gone. They will be lucky to get out of the group.

I was actually kinda dissapointed in Portugals performance, should of been at least a 3 - 0 win. I don't think it really matters since Brazil is going to win it anyway.

Wow, I had not idea anyone on here was into the game.

I heard an interview with Pele where he said that Ronaldinho was going to be the greatest player ever in his opinion. It's not that I couldn't see it happening but, that was also said about Ronaldo in 98 and the other guy from Brazil in 94 (I can't think of his name, Mario something maybe). Either way, Ronaldinho is nasty, but by 2010 there will be another young player from Brazil who we are having similar conversation about. When an entire nation of young boys live to play, natural great players will be produced.

The United States has come a long way. Even after getting beat today they deserve credit. The Czech team is no joke, as their ranking indicates. We need to keep in mind that in 98 the US came in dead last, 32nd our of 32 teams. In 02 we made the quarterfinals. I will admit that after a loss today, making the next round looks grim because of how stong Italy is (some of them winning in). I did not get to see much of the game because of class, but the short bit I saw in the beginning did look pretty ugly.

I will agree that we are not on the level with the best in the world yet, even if we were ranked 5 coming in. On the bright side, based on the U-20. U-19, U-18 and U-17 national teams we are projected to win it in 2010. Now I heard this back in 2000ish, but I know that we do win many of the world tournaments on that level. Not that he could win it himself, but that will be Adu's first Cup, and with a young team we have now and the addition of really the first generation to grow up with the sport we should be strong.

I played with/against some who will be on the national team in the next couple years and I really feel as though my age is the first true generation of the sport from America. Soccer is now the number one youth sport, as it was for most of my youth, and it's only growing. As a former player, student and true fan of the game I look forward to where the sport is going in the US.
