We recently hired a new guy for an opening CAD position we had here at work. At first the guy seems pretty cool and normal. Everyone gets along with him.

Here's the dilemma...he never stops talking about his car! It's a Pontiac G6 GTP. He talks about it like its god's gift to the world. Anyway, back to the point...he's been talking for weeks now about how he's getting his "stage 3 cold air intake" and how you have to remove the "resonator" or the lower portion of the airbox. I think in the past week I've heard the words "resonator", "airbox" and "intake" atleast 20 times. He keeps trying to hint at me to help him install it, but he won't come out and just ask me for help. I seriously think I'm about to lose my mind. I dread everytime he walks into my office and the first words I hear are..."yeah...I'm thinking about trying to get that resonator out this weekend". I now try to avoid him at all costs.

Anyone else have a familiar situation?

A guy I work with is like that. He drove a MSP and the throw out bearing went. This kid cant even tie his own shoes let alone drop his tranny. When I showed him how to change his oil I ended up doing it for him because the oil filter was "on to tight" for him.... I loosened it up with my hand. Any way he kept asking me when we were going to replace the bearing. I kept saying when I get a free weekend. Last week he sold the car for a truck and now he dosent ask me for anyhting. I guess you need to get him to sell his car.

Tell him to sell and buy a turbo model....that should throw him for a loop.

Or say...your friend has the LS1 model and that he shouldn't mess with that stupid V6 and just do the swap and get it over with.

Basically make yourself sound dumb.

Or get him fired and hire me. LOL

Oh god yes. Some fuck head ruined an entire smoke break by going off on how fast and mod worthy his new V6 Taurus is.

I am one of those guys and the only thing that has gotten me to stop talking about cars for even a few moments was when my girlfriend decided to start denying me sex till I could shut-up. So pretty much deny him sex till he shuts-up :thumbsup

It's kinda weird in a way, because I think he missed a few years in his early 20's or something. He's 28 or 29...I can't remember, and he's just now getting into "modifying" his car. It just strikes me as an odd situation.

He's already came in and talked to me twice since I made this post this morning...he was talking about these clips that are attached to a a/c line or something and I told him "just break em off if you cant figure it out"...he got kinda quiet...but that didn't stop him from going on and on heh.

If it works, the pause should be just long enough to punch him in the groin and run like hell.

If it were me Id just tell him "part of modding your car is doing the work yourself" the point him to some forums or something about his car.

Shit man, I feel ya. I bought a house a few months ago and have started to socialize with the neighbors. Well, as I was putting my busa back together, the most out-going (that strange, uncomfy out-going type) neighbor walks over and starts asking about the bike. When I explain that it's a busa, he starts coming with these stories. Story after story of shit that could be true if it were a compilation of many different people, but seems a little far fetched for one individual. He talks about riding, crashing, different bikes, his buddy's bikes that he rode, etc.

Then, he comments about how he's never ridden a busa. I just nod and say they're different from any other bike, comfortable, smooth, and very powerful.

Then, a week or so later, I get the bike back together, go out for a ride to test the tranny and see how everything's running. I get back and put it on the stand.

The next day, I'm tinkering, looking over everything to make sure nothing came loose on the first ride. He walks up again and starts saying how he heard this thing breathing fire last night. I said yeah, it runs good, but we're heading out in about 10 minutes and I was killing time.

This passed Thursday, I ride out to meet up with some buddies and when I get home, he yells from his driveway, "So, it's rideable?" Kinda obvious if you ask me, but I said yeah. So he comes out with, "When do I get to ride it?" "uhhhhh" is all I could come up with, to which he responded 'about that time, huh?' Again, I just said yeah and closed my garage door.

Well, Friday, Windy & I rode to Austin, stayed the weekend for the ROT rally and came home Sunday evening. We got home fairly early (around 7pm) so we went to rent a movie. During the movie, I hear someone knocking at the door. I don't know the time, but it's after we went to blockbuster, the grocery store, and were half way through the movie. I look out and it ends up being my neighbor. I was like WTF, so I opened it and he hands me a set of keys. He works for a near by Mazda dealer and had been driving a manual tranny RX-8. He says, "Hey man! Were you asleep?" Uhh, no, watching a movie. "Well anyway, I've gotta take the 8 back to the dealer tomorrow and was curious if you wanted to take it for a spin real quick and tonight's the last night I'll have it." Thinking to myself that he's trying to 'trade' in hopes of riding my bike, I quickly said, "oh, that's cool, but my buddy's got one, he let me drive it a few weeks ago." Then I reminded him that I was watching a movie with Windy and didn't really want to.

What is it with some people? I hate to tell people 'no', but a Busa's not exactly something you tell a neighbor you just met to hop on and ride around, especially when he's been telling you about the crashes he's had and how he races people on other peoples' bikes.

So now when I get home, I run inside hoping he doesn't catch me out there.

You know he's fucked whichever way he goes, so let him have his fun. He'll have some warning light coming on and off for no reason in his driver "command center." Being that it's a new car, he'll spend a weekend reverting it "all the way back" to stock before taking it in for warranty work.

The dealership will keep his car for a week, only to tell him they will need to install a new "command module." This will require the car to be practically stripped to a shell so they can get to all the sensors that feed it, like door ajar, safety belts, fart detector, etc.. He will be without his car for a good month while they troubleshoot this shit the best way GM knows - order a replacement part that is on national backorder because they didn't make shit right to begin with - and he will be forced to whore that forum, talking shit about how he has to bum rides from mom and friends everywhere because his dealership is so incompetent, and how it's just a fucking Grand Am anyways and why didn't he just get the Scion tC he was looking at in the first place because there's a turbocharged tC on the cover of Super Street this month and woe is me.

Then, he'll get the car back and drive it two months before the brake system starts to crap out on him. I was once told that Pontiac stood for, "Poor old nigga thinks it's a Cadillac," but I think it's more like "Piece of non-running, take it away crap." :order

Another thing, I maybe stupid...but what the f is a "Stage 3" CAI? What is a "stage 1"...a more freely flowing filter? A "stage 2" is the filter and lower intake pipe? Why would you bother with a "Stage 1" or "stage 2" CAI?

Dude, asking to ride your bike is like asking to use your wife...theres some things that just should not be asked.
