All this standard deviation, variance, fancy latin characters and bullshit just so people can do their damndest to predict the future annoys the fuck outta me. Yeah, yeah, yeah, "But you might need it in business to make a decision." Bullshit. If mailing out this flier will generate 10% more sales and advertising on TV will generate 30% more sales, guess what. Management is going to do both anyways.

Gah. I fucking HATE this shit. You spend half an hour building some gay graph (I'm sorry, histogram) to display the chances that ten randomly selected men will say they like basketball. Give me a fucking break. I have no use for this shit and it's driving me up a wall! Who fucking cares?

ha ha, that's how to make anything understandable to management: make a pretty graph. everybody goes 'ooooooo' but they really have no idea what it all means

stats is actually pretty useful for other things- I actually took time off of my doctorate to get a masters in biostatistics. it's very useful for clinical research.

and I once made a post on the pits where I did some multivariate analysis on DSM 1/4 mile times and mods.

When I hit 100k miles, I'm going to do stats on my MPGs and post how many MPG changes you get with different type of bolt on mods.

I'll make a histogram especially for you Driggs :thumbsup
