i just installed some Tech5 springs and i noticed a difference, but i was told that it will lower even more once the springs settle. How long will it take till they settle for good?

3 days for my prokit..get an alignment after they settle my car rides so much better now!

yeah it shouldnt take more than a few days.. just wait a week and get the aligntment and such..

Speaking of installing springs, I just bought my Pro-Kit and Illuminas from coximport.com and I was wondering how tough it would be to install the springs if I had a spring compressor and everything. My dad swears I'm a fool if I have a shop do it, so I'd like to know what's involved before getting into it. Thanks

you should have saved up another $75 and got a set of Pro Kits...
the tech 5's settle about 2 inches lower than what they start out as...

installing struts and springs is easy as long as you have all the necessary tools. I did my install by myself in about 4hrs

Ha, reason i installed the tech 5's is because i got a killer deal, only $40 for all 4 brand new.

2 of my buddies installed the springs in about 1.5 hrs. I was there really for about 3hrs but spent about half an hour trying to rent a spring compressor and another hour or so messing around and driving the car to get used to the new feel. You can do it yourself, now i know how to do it and wouldnt mind trying it myself.

My friend and I did my Spyder with Eibach Pro-kit. Took us about 3 hrs. We have a Air compressor and air tools. Very simple with these tools.

Some of the screws/bolts are on so tight but with a air compressor - No problem.

We didn't even use a Spring compressor. We did it the Old School Way.

1) Mark on the springs were the originla bolts line up.

2) Lay the spring/shock on the grass with a piece of brick about 12" away from the top screw.

3) Use the air compressor tool and take of theat top nut - What suppose to happen is that the screw shoots out and hits the brick. What really happen is that the screw did shoot out - but it flew about 2 inches (For the Front Springs) The back Springs just came off. Fell about 1/2".LOL

4) Since the new springs are lower/shorter. All we did was pull the shock all the way out - so its's at it longest length, put the spring, bumpstop (Cut of about 1" for the front - leave the rear alone) boot and then had one guy push down on the spring and the other guy screw in the nut. Note the more guys you have the easier this is. If the shock was about 1/2" -3/4" longer - you could easily screw the nut in. But it's pretty easy to squeeze the springs down anout 1/2" - Takes like 10 seconds flat to squeeze and screw the bolt in. Once in, use the air compressor and screw the nut in until it's tight.

Now re-install the same way. This is not hard at all. It's only time consuming...and if you only have hand tools, it can be done but will take a lot longer for those tight nuts, bolts, screws that takes a hour to get off. LOL

Ince you finish, you'll laugh at the guy in the shop that wants to charge you $60-$120 for labor.
