Check this out.

Dangerous Wheels: Class Action Lawsuit Filed Over Rims Sold With Popular Car:

The wheels at issue are the 17-inch rims, either the two part or six-spoke, mounted with low profile (or very thin) tires. Stueve says that approximately 100,000 Mitsubishi Eclipses and Eclipse Spyders from 1997 to 2001 came equipped with the wheels.

Just a FYI for everyone.

interesting report.. funny how they dont menchen rims from talons of the same years. they also menchened it had happened quite a bit with the newer eclipses, which i think is partly to do with the added weight those 3g's have.. I wonder if they will be willing to replace the rims with new versions, man that would be a lot of $$ plus what about the 17in talon rims.. crazyness i tell you, just plain crazyness.

The rims in question seem to look like those from a 2g gsx. Well this issue has been gaining momentum on the 3g board, there's a lot of info to read up on

You might as well call the number and find out. Its the wheels in question, not the type of car they are on.

the 3G GSX looking rims are sort of different from what I"ve heard but they do look similar. Haha had that happen to me at the racetrack when I crashed through the dirt and hit a bump, I was using 205/40/16s haha and it just popped off.

UPDATE: I E-mail the address that was on the page, and i got a response right away, i explain to him, that i was Mexican and that my car was an RS, and i had 99 GSX Wheels on it.

In the Response he ask if it was bought (the car) at a dealership, and what year was it.... I said nope from a Used Car dealership, and the rims off an individual.

I will keep you posted for all the GSX Rims Users.

FINAL UPDATE:

Respond from that E-Mail:

"Our lawsuit only involves vehicles 1997-2001. Moreover, our claims are primarily for breach of warranty. The warranty on your vehicle is likely expired and the rims did not likely come with a warranty as you purchased them from an individual and not Mitsubishi. If your class definition changes, I will let you know."
