9543, Best Tire Size for 18"s Posted by SunBlocker, May-21-02 03:10 AM
Hi guys, I found a good deal on some 18"s. What would be the best tire size to put on if you don't want to scrape your fenderwells? I have coilovers, so I can raise it up if I have to. I want to put some 40 series tires on so I don't dent the rims up from potholes as easily. What do you guys reccomend? Oh yeah, the wheels are 7.5" wide. TIA!

yeah, 225/40/18 are about right. You will have to roll the rear fenders if they are not rolled already.

To roll the rear fender, do I just take a pipe or something and roll it? What did you guys use? Tia
P.S. Thx for the fast responses.

I've had 225/40/18's for the past 2 years and never had to roll the fenders, so you might not have to (depending on your ride height). Your other option if they do rub is to raise it up slightly like you said before.

big wheels are cool but keep tire prices in mind. for 18's you only have one size and the cheapest your gonna get a decent quality tire for is around 180 190 a peice.

You can find tires for cheaper than that...... The best pricing that I have found for 18" tires is at www.tires.com (discount tire). They have free shipping too!!!
Jeff, I found a guy selling his 18s from Ohio. They have less than 100 miles on them. This guy wanted even wider wheels because his car is a beast (~600hp).

I got mine from www.onlinetires.com. I paid $150 each(obviously) for my Pirelli P7000 supersports(225/40/18). Highly recommended! Best tires I have had(so far).

225/40/18 are better becuase they have a little bit more sidewall. 35 series is too low
