Thats right, I got this hot chick to buy my rims and tires, only asked $500 to move em fast, damn shes hot, red eclipse too, works at my gym, anyway I am going with 17s, not 18s, I don't want them too big. My theme has been "sleeper". She is externally stock. I loved the rims I have had. Classic 5-stars with rivots (alt-180). I want something suttle, and not too busy. I want it too look like it "could" have been a factory option rim but don't like the OZ series or touring rims. I considered the racing hart 5 star but don't know (pricey I know)? Opinions? Other guidlines, I am willing to spend $1100 max rim and tire package? Konig Imagines are nice but haven't seen a 17 inch non-black opal side view on a black eclipse. Are they too "busy". X-philes aren't bad but my woman said she would miss the rivots and they are too plain, I almost agree now. No rice here, help>. Thanks..jd

My only question is should I go with 215/45/17 Tires or 225/45/17 Tires? I was told that when you go with 225/45/17 Tires that you really should have 17x7.5 rims and for 17x7 rims you should go with 215/45/17 Tires.

But I see a lot of people here with 225/45/17 Tires on 17x7 Rims.

What should I get. I like the 225/45/17 Tires because their Wider and will fill up be Fender Well Gap a littler more. I'm getting Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 Tires.

Wow, 225 on 7in wide rims, sounds like too much, I would only use 8's with 225's and 215's, but I guess 7.5 with 215 would be fine!

Well just to let everyone know. 225/45/17 fill fit fine on my 17x7 5Zigen Fireball Wheels (Hyper-Black).

I check with several resources (Tirerack, Discount Tire, Tire Plus, ect....) and of course you guys.

For those that said "225/45/17" won't fit on 17x7 - Your all Wack. LOL

You can either run 215/45/17 or 225/45/17 on 17x7 Wheels. The 225/45/17 will be a littler wider and fill the fender gap a littler better.

I'll take some pictures after I get them install next week. Still waiting for shipment. $1,100.00 shipped for 5Zigen "FireBall" 17x7 in Hyper-Black with Kumho Ectsa 712 in size 225/45/17 all mounted and balance with free lug nuts (Not the cheap one - these have a hex slot in the middle that require a special key to unlock - forgot what their called - The guy says he sells them for $1.50 each but gave them to me for free).

Got my 17s for 1200 w/tires. I love em they are so light and people are always thinking I have GS rims so if you want a sleeper look. They weigh about 15lbs a piece (forgot exact specs). Got Toyo Proxes T1-S rubber too and love tha hell outta these tires. They stick like mad in dry and wet weather. Only downside of these is the price. got em for 150 a piece. Good luck tho.

I felt the same way about wheels when I went to pick out mine. Something not too flashy, but then again still stuck out. I would just go to discounttire.com and do that virtual wheel thing. Find out exactly what style you want then go shopping around for that style. Your question is a toughie because its all based on personal preference.

True You can run 225 on 7" wide but the point of the 8" is that 8" is all you need to completely lay down the 225" rubber. The flatter the rubber laying, the more traction you're getting. 205 on 7" creates more traction (AKA contact patch) than 225 on 7" and 215 for 7.5" and of coarse 225 for 8", no if's and's or but's. Besides why pay more just to say you are running fatter rubber (some butter for your Uncle Ben's - J/K:)) when you can get more performance out of 205.

Well one of the reasons for going with the 225/45/17 instead of the 215/45/17 is that the 225 will fill the fender gap better - giving it a nicer look. I can fit 3 fingers between the fender and wheel now with my 16x7 rims with 225/50/16.

The 17 is 23 pounds!!!! That’s Heavy as hell! That’s the only thing that is stopping me... Still part of me says get the Damn wheel...

Maybe I can loose some weight by going on a bread and water diet...

23-lbs of rotational mass is a tuffy to justify.... :(

They look good, and are very light, not to mention they custom make them for your choice of offset, and width. But don't plan on getting
away for less than 4k set and done.. ouch..

23 lbs really isnt that bad. The old OZ racing that came off my car were 40 lbs with the tires on. Now THATS heavy

Alot of it is personal preference, so I know I won't be much help. I was exactly like fasterGS in wanting something not too flashy. If you would have asked me this question before I got my rims, I would have told you no way in hell I'm getting chrome rims. I got a good deal ($600 w/tires 18in) I wasn't too sure about them when I first saw them, they put them on my car and I said sold!. I guess my entire point is, don't rule something out until you see it in person. It's one thing to look at a picture and then see it for real.


One last thing...sheeet! 23 lbs ain't that bad!:)
