8606, What springs with stock struts Posted by 99Silver1100, Apr-14-02 07:37 AM
I don't have enough money to get struts yet, so im just going to order springs. What springs are better with stock struts: Eibach Pro-Kit,Eibach Sportline, or H&R Performance? I don't really want a bumpy ride. Also do I need alignment and do I need a camber kit?
Thanks

I'd reccomend waiting, because when you get the springs and struts you can do the install all at once instead of doing it twice
and, the stock struts don't like aftermarket springs

Running H&R sport springs on stock struts, and no complaints from me. Ride isn't bumpy, but the car does respond to just about every part of the road, dips, pot holes and all. After i hit a bump or dip in the road, the car bounces back up and stays there, no goin up and down or anything. Personally, i would like to have a slightly harder, or stiffer ride. My set up i'd say is about 25-35% stiffer than a stock spring/strut setup. The ride doesn't bother me at all.Feels good and sporty..

ya, stock struts, and about ~2.5ish drop w/intraxx...
ride is harsh, but corners like a champ!!
u will need at least the 15$ camber mod (found on mods page at www.2gnt.com) in the rear, and maybe a front camber kit. dont waste your $ on a rear kit, go w/the 15dolla mod, and if u need more washers, u can hook it up for pennies..
basically, hang out for awhile, and read thru and look at diff peeps suspension setups...
have fun, and good luck.. vfaq.com and corbin both have great how-tos for coilover/spring/strut install!

From what I have heard the stock struts will last a few months lowered. The cheapest alternative are tokico blues. They are slightly stiffer than stock. My ride below has tokico blues and H&R race springs. Its stiff, and bumpy but you get used to it. Looks tite as hell IMO.
