8377, problem with my breaks...help! Posted by rfpunch, Apr-05-02 08:23 AM
today i was going through town and i felt my brake pedal lose its "stiffness". like i could push it down more easily and farther and it wasnt stopping as good. so i pulled over and checked the brake fluid and its fine. i pumped the brake pedal and got pressure while the car was off..started it up and it seems to be fine. maybe i am just paranoid?

Could be brake fade if you were workin those brakes and got them really hot. Could be moisture in your brake lines/fluid, and the heat boiled it, causing a mushy pedal. I would check out the brake pads and rotors in the front, and check for wear, leaks ect.. and do the same in the rear. If your master cyl isn't leaking, and is full, i would then flush out your whole brake system and lines with new brake fluid, and then bleed the system.
