this joint has been like this for a while now and it makes the worst rattle sound you have ever heard. The red arrow is pointing to the problem area. The rubber piece that is there is basically non existent inside the joint so it causes metal to metal when i hit a bump. Satan says they can't replace just the rubber piece they have to replace the whole arm which is like 175 to 225 or more. Any ideas on what i can do? I have heard of some type of polyurethane pieces for replacements but where do i get them? please help

Have you got the recall done? Maybe they can replace for some extra $

the recall was for the front control arm lower ball joint and yes i got that done. sorry forgot to say this is the left rear.

That rubber bushing *should* be replaceable. But it will be a major pain in the ass to do it. It takes a special press to get them out, and i have heard some stories on those just barely working too. If i remember, i think Darkone has had some experience on this, not too sure though..Satan most likely wants to replace the whole arm to 1. make more money, 2. Take much less time to swap out the whole arm rather than replace the bushing. They might not even have the proper press to actually do it too. Maybe some others on here may have some more insight on this too..

I am pretty sure the energy suspenison kit has those bushings...

hehe.. i had this happen to my car last year.. rubber gets old after time.. :-) what i ended up doing was getting a full master set of energy suspension bushings and got them installed.. but it is very expensive if you dont have hookups.. also the polyurethane bushings will squeak.. but you cannot buy just that one bushing from the dealership.. you would be required to buy a whole new knuckle arm which is that metal piece with the bushing already in it.. and that runs about 170ish.. not cheap by any means.. btw that little bushing will cause a rattle/knocking when braking and will wear your tires strange.. but you can drive your car with that bushing like that..

check www.roadraceengineering.com and www.suspension.com for the engergy suspension bushings.. you can just get the partial upper control arm bushings seperately i believe..

whoever said that about dino was right. Thiis is kinda like a double edged sword here guys. You need to take off the whole control arm in the rear to replace just that on bushing. The fact is right about the dealer not being able to sell just the bushing and the other deal is you cant get it by itself from energy suspension. Jasnon was right on the needing to get a hookup. We installed his whole set at my house over a weekend. Bottom line the kit costs 130$ install around $375-600. Dino has one of these ripped bushings and i've got a spare but I think eventually he will replace them all. late mike
