It will give you a little clue. I'm on 17x7 wheels..For performance reasons, i wouldn't go any larger. Looks, go with 18's if you like big ass wheels :)

ive got some Myrtle shoot 18's on nitto tires.. 215/35/18. the rims are chrome and therefore heavy ass all get out.. im going for the look, not the lightweight.. i dont race so i am not into pulleys and carb hoods and taking the back seat out.. besides i got my iceman and when i hear that growl.. it makes me think my $hit is hauling ass.... }>

If I get 17x7 or 17x7.5 with 225/40/17 tires and put them under my Talon they wouldn't rub would they?

shit they wont rub. I got 18's and they dont rub unless i turn the wheel to the side as hard as possbile, and then its just a lil rub.

Im on 18's. Im lowered, no rub, looks great. Get 18's :-) Bigger is better! I actually regret not getting 19's, however crazy that may sound...

I just got my motegi mr7's 17X7's and i ordered 215-45-zr17's, lowered with 2" sprint springs ! I got them put on today and i love them!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was gonna get 18's but i am sooooo happy i didn't!

Has anyone switched between 17s and 18s?

I'm wondering because my 18s look perfect on my car but they kill me when it comes time to buy tires or when I give it some gas and I feel how much slower I am over my (talon tsi) 16s.

I'm wondering about going down to 17x8 wheels that weigh less.

What do you guys think?

I have 18's on mine. 225/40 nitto nt-555, lowered on coilovers. Not sure exactly how low but the coilovers are pretty much maxed out if that gives you an idea (so around 4in I believe). Our wheel well and the gap is so big you need 18's to really fill it up IMO. As far as being that much slower, the turbo alleviates that problem :P
