i can't get the god damn axel to come out of the wheel hub. how do they come apart. they sure in hell don't just pull apart. this shit is pissing me off. i'v using corbins walk through and i've disconected everything.

If you've removed that bigass axle nut and cotter pin, yeah, the axle should come out. Disconnect the lower control arms so that you can pull the suspension towards you, and whack the axle end with something heavy. it should pop out of the hub..

Keep in mind that factory torque spec on that axle nut is over 200ft/lbs, and that it is exposed metal. not only is it heavily torqued from the factory, it is also a little rusty.

ya i got the big ass bolt off. i'll have to get someone to help me then. see if the can hold while i wack

alright i got the axel out of the tranny but i'm still unable to get it out of the wheel hub. actually that isn't the problem, i don't really give a shit if i came out of the hub...just as long as i can pull the tranny out. ok heres my problem. i need to fix my cv boot (only been torn for about 6 months :-)), and i can't figure out howi would put a new one on. looking at this pic

do i pull apart the cv joint? or what? and my other problem is the rubber boot that is right at the end of the axel. when i was pulling at cussing at it i pulled the knuckle (or what ever it is inside that boost) apart. how do i connected these back up? and finally...those metal clamps that hold the rubber boots on. i don't see a way to hook them bakc up if i where to break them off. would it be ok to use regular metal clamps like the ones to hold piping on my turbo together?

your taking out your cv joint because the boot is blown out? For the amount you pay for the boot,strap and metal wire tie you probably could buy a replacement axle there really not that bad $. About getting the axle out? take you ball joint splitter and wedge it between the tranny and axle and pry and pull at the same time it will just fall out.late mike
