Yo, I don't have money for new rims and tires right now, so I need to replace my bald ass tires on my stock 14's. Is there such a thing as a good grippy Z rated tire for my stockers? I want something I can haul ass in on the freeway without worry of a blowout and death, soooo if anyone could help that would be sweet.

Sumitomo HTR 200
195/70HR14($37 each) and 205/60HR14($39 each)

These are good tires for the money. The stock 14 inch wheels are 5.5 inches wide and this does not give you many choices. If you want comfort and your speedo to read correctly, choose the 195 tires. If you want to corner a little better(more grip)and launch with more power available(smaller diameter tire), get the 205 tires. Be advised that your speedo will read approx 5 miles faster than you are really going.

Both of these tires are VERY inexpensive and will work fine. The stock bridgestones were not really that bad, it is just the tall sidewall and narrow width that makes them corner like crap. The stock size above will not be much better, but the 205 would be OK. Do not go any wider than 205 on that 5.5 inch wide wheel. You will have way too much sidewall flex and it will feel like you are driving one ice at 80+ mph.

I doubt you will beat the tire rack in their prices for name brand tires unless you are hooked up with a shop.

I usually would not post a reply to this question, but I made the mistake of putting 215/60SR14 Firestone Firehawk tires on those stock rims in 1997 and just wanted you to not make the same mistake I did.
