6839, what size tires for 17"s? Posted by thisismygs, Feb-18-02 03:48 PM
i'm getting 17" wheels, and am looking to see what size tires i should get. i'm leaning towards 225/45/17, but i want to make sure that looks good. could you guys post pics of your wheels/tires with what size tires you are running?

17x8's? your numbers are about perfect.

Well I personally would never go less than 45's. 40 series tires make the rims look small if your not dropped enough.

nah, not 17" X 8". actually, i'm looking at 17" X 7.5". i'm still good, right? do any of you have the 225/45/17 setup right now? please post pics. i'm getting the tokico illuminas & eibach pro-kit, if that gives you a better idea.

Not sure if I would go with 225's on a 7.5" rim. Maybe 205 or 215..

On a 7" rim, I have 225/45-17. No problemo. Just roll your rear fender (5 minute job).

Hey Jason, when you role your fenders, do you push down with leverage on the tire to push the fender out or are you pulling up resting the bat or whatever you are using to pull the fender out more?

You had to roll your fenders Jason?
I also have 225/45's on 17x7 but I have no rubbing issues what so ever. Also dropped 1.5"

a 17x7 can take as low as a 205/40-17. that's usually the best cause they're the cheapest. you can go up to 225/45-17 but your gonna lose wet traction. it's up to you and also what tires you go with. keep me posted on what specific tire your doing.

I used the tire for leverage.
As to others, it's not necessarily an absolute for some that you'll need to roll your fenders with 225's and a 1.5" drop. But for me, I quickly noticed that it was.
