i recently went to the autoparts store to turn my factory rotors when i changed my pads. so when i got there the guy said the mitsubishi eclipse rotors are already to thin from the factory that they cannot be turned. is this true? he said that anybody that turns them can be sued cause its against the law cause since they are already thin that they will shatter when they are turned?

He is prob right. The factory mitsu rotors are not very good, mine warped, and so have many others. If the stock rotors are out of spec for the thickness, they will not turn them. Since its general consensus that our stock rotors are not very good, i would not turn them anyway, get new ones. I got OEM replacements, very good quality ones made here in the USA, not cheap ones, and they stop excellent. Match with good quality brake pads and all should be good. I usually always buy new rotors, since turning them does remove some metal, which means a slightly weaker rotor. Maybe go to Napa and see what they have, or any good autoparts store and ask for the best ones they carry which will set you back more money, but for the safety, its def worth every penny...

Yeah I always recommend new rotors, but ask the guy what the specs on the rotor are? what can they be turned to? and have him mic them if you want them turned, or just to see is he knows what he's talking about.

Powerslot rotors! Cheep (~$60), won't warp, can be turned, stop really well.

I've never heard they couldnt be turned, but only that if they were turned, they would just warp again and you would be waisting your time. Go with the powerslots. I got em now and they rock!

I had the same problem. It is true. Legal specs on thickness is what he is most likely talking about. I have powerstop rotors from summit. Similar in price to stockers, cross drilled, and stop on a dime. They are SCHHWWEEET!

Yah, just installed the powerslots and metal master pads. $200 total after tax from RRE. They're really nice, no more whirr or grabby brakes... just real smooth, fast deceleration. Took me under an hour to install - just 4 bolts and the 5 lug nuts per wheel.

that's bull he's lyin bad but you can get stock replacements at NAPA for 30 a peice. that's what i ahve on the fronts and they have plenty of meat so you won't hear any of that crap again about bein to thin till after they've been shaved twice.
