6642, what's the most comfortable strut/spring setup you've tried? Posted by ez, Feb-10-02 01:03 PM
I'm not even talking about lowering springs or anything, just something that makes the ride feel better. Ever since I put on 17s I can feel everything. I know it's possible for the ride to still be good because those bmw's and other luxury cars have very low profile tires but they are smooth. Are suspension is pretty sophisticated so I don't see that hindering us any.
this is a real question so don't say go out and buy a lexus or somethin'

Stock struts and springs will always be the most "comfortable."
But if you're worried about having grandma/grandpa type comforts, who cares about performance? :-)

The bmw suspension is more sophisticated and the setup allows for a comfortable ride, that's why you pay the big bucks for their cars. Another thing that makes their ride smoother is that their cars have a lot longer wheelbase than our cars, ours is about 98.8" and the previous generation 3 series is about 106.3". That makes a big difference in making a car's ride smoother.

oh yea, i also forgot to mention that different makes and models of the same size tire will ride differently. some may ride more comfortably than others.
