Can somebody explain and point out the differences in the 98 body style gsx rims ( 17 inch) and the ones that look just like it on the newer body style eclipses. they do look different to me i just cant figure out what is so different about them!!

Actually some 2g's have the split 5 spoke design that the 97+ GSX's had ;)

I think they are the exact same.

I think I know what he's talking about, if you look at 2G GSW wheels and 3G versions of the same wheels, they look a little different. I can't put my finger on what the difference is but there appears to be some little change. Maybe I'm crazy.

I thinks its that the 2G had a polished chrome lip and the 3G does not. But I could be wrong.

It's something small, I'll look around today and get you guys the info :P

i know what you mean, its like the spokes are farther apart from one another or something. i dunno, but there are also the six spoke 17in 3g rim

Looks the same to me....they look better on 2g though.

...the 4" wheel well gap in the 3g vs 1" on the 2g.

the look the exact same to me. i painted my wheels not powder coated them. i live in orlando florida

maybe the 3g's don't have the polished lip???

just for everyones info, unfortunately i used to work for a mitsu dealer, and the rims are identically the same. When they discontinued the GS-X in 99 they had a couple of hundred thousand sets of 17 inch GS-X rims, so when the GT CONV and Coupe came out in 00 they decided to put SOME on them because as you can see not all 00+ GT's have those 17inchers they have these other ugly style rims. Thats what our rep had told us, and alot of people backed it up at the conventions we used to go to.

i always thought the 3G wheels has a slight bend inward near the outter lip, where the 2G wheels is straight. If that is what everyone is talking about.

Check it out fellas. I saw a Spyder today and decided to take a closer look. So my assumption was correct. That the 2g's have a polished chrome lip and the 3g's are one solid piece of alloy with no chrome lip. I saw it with my own eyes!

Okay, I looked at 2 side by side.
the 2g gsx wheels are 2 piece that consist of a face and a rim that is welded together. the 3g ones are a 1 piece unit. it appears that the 3g inner diameter is a little smaller so it would be alittle harder to put big brakes in there. the 2g ones hav a bit larger ID and has a little more clearance for brake calipers. the 2g has an illusion of being a little bigger because the 3g's spokes actually look a little bit shorter than the 2g. i want some 2g one's anyone got a set for sale!

Yea they are definetely not the same. The ones on the 3Gs bend in a bit more than the 2Gs on the outer edge of the lip.
