6444, anyone here just change the front rotors? Posted by ez, Feb-05-02 06:08 AM
These stock rotors are ugly, now that my new rims showed them off I want to get some new ones. Can you recommend a good set of silverish looking (not golden or smoked) cross drilled rotors that WILL NOT rust. You guys have talked about power stop, etc... but those I see for like $70/ piece... I don't need a fancy name brand... heck this is a rotor. Just something nice looking.
I have a chiltons guide and I can't tell if you are supposed to disassemble the caliper to get the rotor off. Can you just unbolt the whole caliper assembly and not touch the break lines or anything? It also says you may need to thread in bolts to take off the rotor... that stinks, how about a mallet.
Oh... and show off your painted calipers if you can... I want to see what you guys have done!

Any rotor that is CAD or ZINC plated will do the job. They are plated so that nothing but the actual friction surface will rust, you your pads keep that rust-free anyway..
I run KVR slotted/cross drilled zinc plated rotors on all corners, and besides stopping on a dime, they look wonderful.

I've got powerslots and porterfield r4s pads, bought from Rode Race Engineering. I'm very happy with the setup.
