I have my coilovers on my car, with stock struts. My ride is bumpy as hell. I received new KYB GR-2's yesterday, and am eager to put them on.

I'm just wondering: How is your ride with Skunk2's and GR-2's

I'm familiar with the struts and spings and that whole area, I'm just wondering if there is anything special I should know, besides the basics. I know I need to knoch the perches off...anything else I should know?

Nope, just knock off the perches, and they will sit great on the front. On the rear, it did not seem to sit very even or tight, but with the O-rings in (top and bottom) it's been fine. My ride is really stiff though. Like some bumps will kinda hurt because it doesn't really bounce. It's pretty stiff mainly because of the spring rate of the skunk2's I think. They keep changing spring rates though, so the ones you have may be slightly different than mine. The newer ones use the same spring rate in teh front and rear.

Hey Eclipse804 when did you get your Skunk's. I didn't know that they changed the spring rates. That explains why so many people don't like them. I got my when they first came out for the eclipse and I love mine and I still have stock struts. I always get complimants to as how good my car rides for being so low.

Ryan, ya it should be better than stock, at least performance wise (it might be a bit more harsher ride though). I got my skunk2's about 6 months ago. Since then, they have changed the spring rate so that the front and rears have the exact same spring rate. They also made the rear springs an inch shorter since I got mine. Mine are 10 kg in front, 8 kg in rear (it converts to about 550 ft lb in front, and 450 in the rear).

How would my ride get harsher? Im swapping stock shit sturts for performance gas.....?

Harsher because the shocks are stiffer. Worn out stock shocks will kinda bounce when you go over bumps. Performance shocks will just absorb the impact and not really bounce (luxury cars use really soft shocks to make the ride smooth and not harsh). If you ever tried Illuminas set on one of the stiffer settings, you would see that the ride is almost unbearable for street driving (great on a smooth race track). But the GR-2 are not much stiffer than stock shocks, so it shouldn't be too much harsher. Your ride should be better in that it will bounce less though.

c'mon dude you bought performance springs, skunk2s are stiff man don't you like feeling the road hehe. You'll get used to it.

Well, when I first installed the skunk2's my ride wasn't like it is now... After a few months it got really bad, I'm thinking my stock struts are blown, and that's whats causing it. Theres a difference between 'feeling the road',and what I am experiencing. My car is REALLY bumpy.

When I install the KYB GR-2's, Im hoping it will help a bit..if not I will need to consider buying springs....ugh. I know it wont be perfect with the GR2's, but it should be a big improvment over stock struts...hopefully.
