6167, Weight??? Posted by 2bFaster, Jan-28-02 02:44 PM
Sorry wrong forum.... oops "turbo-clickin'"
How much does a stock hood wiegh vs. a CF hood (on avg.) Is there any way to guess how much wieght can lower 1/4 mi. times??(like maybe so many tenths per lb. or something....if anybody knows a way to fig out) Just curious... plus the wieght of factory seats vs. aftermarket race seats(on avg. again) just thought it be something to look into helping.. because I want do all of this along with upgrading my stereo some more without adding too much weight... any little bit counts!!I suppose...

Well, I think a stock hood is 47lbs, where as a carbon fiberhood is only 15 or something. I vaguely remember someone saying that every 100lbs costs you 10hp. I'm pretty sure, but I could be worng.

there is some intricate equation for horsepower vs weight equaling a certain quarter mile time.. but you have to remember, that's under perfect driving.. and also, that you're not always on the same horsepower because of peak power on powerband.
I think it was something like.. every 10 horsepower is a tenth off your quarter mile time... and every hundred pounds was another second.
I could be absolutely wrong, but give or take, it sounds right to me.

Cool, I know it would be difficult to be accurately estimated(b/c all the variables) but it was something I was thinking of looking in to... thanx bros

it is something like every 100 pounds is a tenth. I striped my car of almost 100 pounds and it felt so much faster.
