6163, Better Traction for my '96 ESi???

Hey everyone,

I've got a '96 ESi and I have the HRC Stage 2 kit on right now running 5 psi. I plan to up it to about 7-8 for daily driving. I have HORRIBLE tracion right now with the tires I have...they are stock 16's all weather. I was wondering what I could do to get some traction out of my car?! Right now when I race I rev to about 3 grand and then drop the clutch and floor it...and I can spin all through first, all through second and part way into third. So what all would I need to get some tracton? I know I need better tires. Also, I was thinking of lowering my front end about 1 1/2" and my back end 1" - 1 1/2". Would the combination of lowering where I specified and some better tires help at all? Which kind of tires do all you turbo people recommend? Your help is GREATLY appreciated! TIA!

Hmm you can tried a rear lower tie bar it helps some. it'll help you take off faster. you can underinflate your tires some to let the side grip more. Just don't spin the tires, go easy on the throttle. That's the biggest disadvantge in our cars turbo FF car always has traction problems. haha thats some major power spin up to 3rd gear, doesn't sound like the car is enjoying that either.

Wheel spin is the only reason I switched to AWD. I want all of that power propelling the car forward rather than just spinning the wheels.

Unless the pavement is 100% dry and has no dirt or gravel, I can spin the wheels till 4th gear. Very annoying when you are just trying to get from point A to point B while staying on the road.

Well, I'd get a GSX or TSi, but insurance will rape me! So that's why I got my ESi. So, know of any good tires? Or should I go with what the local shop can get me which is drag radials already assembled for $140 each?
