6058, Shocks with Ground Controls...
Posted by phrenzy, Jan-25-02 03:21 AM
OK, so I'm gunna get a set of ground controls in a month or so. What are my option for shocks? I'm sick of hearing different people say completely different things, I know you guys are the authorities.

So my eclipse is my daily driver so I don't want to be battered to death, but I do want a significant handling improvement. They don't have to be adjustable.

Konis, Tokikos?

Thanks

tokico illumina adjustables are said to work just as well as koni's.. some people even say they are BETTER.

You'll have to knock off the spring perch, but other then that, it should be fine.. and since it's fully adjustable, you should be able to control your ride quality to some degree.

personally, i'd go with pro-kits with illuminas.. unless having full control of your ride height is a really big issue with you.

And in that case, i'd go all out and spend the $1200 to get true coilovers..

with ground controls and illuminas, you wouldn't be that far off.. just add a little (ok, a lot) more dough.

Dude you're rich, get koni yellows.

True coilover's are about $1200 :)

A. I am not rich. :P Actually, I'm kind of low on funds at the moment, just had a rather large investment and what money I did have is tied up for a while.

B. I priced Ground Controls and Koni Yellows, installed it was going to be around $1100. So it sounds like I'm not too far off from true coilovers. So if I did decide to go with true coil-overs, which brand/model would I be looking at?

Thanks

hehe, yeah. In Battlebot news, I just got sponsored by a local Machine Shop here. They have like a ton of scrap Titanium that they pretty much just gave me. If I could get ahold of the CAD drawings, I would have them make me some titanium connecting rods (they just finished making prototype rods for a new snowmobile motor). Good times.

heh you know the Lancer Evo has titanium suspension parts hint hint ;)

OoOoo titanium engine parts are quite nice also :)

I got skunk2 coilovers and KYB AGXs, not the greatest setup in the world but it's what I autocross with, I watch my car autox on vids and it doesn't lean for shit unless it's at like the extreme limit. Got em 400 bux on ebay, so if your looking for cheap springs and shox check out ebay. The dude even sent them to me already installed.
