5997, Humming from driver's rear wheel well area...

Over the last week or two there's been a humming sound coming from the driver rear wheel. It gets louder the faster you go.
At about 60mph it's intrusively loud...
Funny thing though...if I swerve left the sound goes away. But comes back when I straighten out. Still there when I go right.
No clunking. Tried different tires.
My thoughts are: wheel bearings, shock mounts,...but not sure.

are you lowered?? could be you are rubbin, or the strut is blown causin that side of the car to be lower, hence the rub.

if this is true, roll your fenders. if you are on stock springs, i know nuthing

could be that u have bad camer, or need an alignment. Does it only happen at higher speeds, like highway speed? It's kinda like a "ufo" sound? not a constant hum, but kinda like a wavey, changing, loud, then quiet, thne loud again tone? If so, you probably need a rear camer kit, new rear tires, and an alignment. The inside edges of the rear tires wear easily and the bad camber will put pressure there, making the tread hit unevenly, and cause the "ufo" sound.

If you,re stock I'd check your wheel bearings. Just had 1 front and 1 rear bad so changed them all. Same noise you describe. That was on a 98 with 64,000 miles. When they took the front apart had to replace the whole arm as bearing froze in it. Thank god for warranties and a great dealer.
