5555, Skunk2 Coilovers and KYB GR-2's

I am lowered on Skunk2 coilovers and need struts. I thought it was very expensive. The only struts compatible with my Skunk2's are KYB GR2's, and I just found out that they are a pretty good pice. MUCH better than I thought. $100 for a pair of fronts, and $80 for a pair of rears.

The question: For those who have experience with these and skunk2's, how does the install go? I am familiar with the strut assembly, as I have installed the coilovers. Will the perch be knocked off, andthing I should know? tia

This can be answered by Eclipse804 perfectly cause he has that exact set up. But i think you have to hammer the perch off the KYB and the Skunk will then sit on the remaining little perch thats left.

Yup, the perch comes off so easily it's a joke. Just use a hammer or mallet and lightly tap upwards on the perch so it will go up towards the top of the shock. Then use your O-rings and metal rings to stabilize the coilover sleeve onto the shock. The front is a really good fit. The back seemed a bit loose at first because the collar barely sat on the shock welds because the rears are thinner. I used one of those metal rings that makes it a bit narrower, and it still seemed to move a little. But with 1 rubber O-ring at the top, and 1 at the bottom, it fit on pretty tight (I forced those rings in with a screwdriver). It's been fine for over 6 months now.

just when you are tapping the perch off, be careful not to scrape the piston shaft (shiny portion), and becareful of the screwdriver trick. i lost some skin on my index finger when helping marcus install his skunks....:P

Thanks guys. That's pretty much how I thought it was, just wanted to 'know' before I attempted it. I won't be doing it for a while.
