4942, Attn: JASONESI-T question about your tires! Posted by Danny95ESI, Dec-10-01 01:54 AM
hey Jason- how do you like your Kumho's? I'm about to replace my Yoko A520s and I'm looking for a different tire. I've been replacing tthe 520s every 20000 miles....was wondering how many miles you had on your Kumhos and what the tread was looking like. Thanks
Danny

4943, Kumho Supra's... Posted by JasonESi_T, Dec-10-01 02:46 AM
Well, since you're already used to "performance" tires, you know the great disparity they have over our stock RS-A's. I.E. they're much better.
These tires are probably somewhere around the middle fo the pack as far as "quality" in rating performance in dry weather turning. They're not outstanding at sharp turns at higher speeds, but they're good. They also don't squeal very often which is nice. They do wear well. I've had them on for about 4k miles, and they still look great. From speaking to the tire rep at Whalen, apparently these tires do wear well. They also have great performance in wet weather, as I haven't slipped once with these while it's been raining.
Scale of 1-10 in some categories (for comparison, I'll rate the Goodyear RS-A's in parense)-higher, the "better":
Dry performance: 5(2) Wet Performance: 7(2) Wear durability: 8(9) Noise level: 7(5) Aesthetics: 8(5) Rigidity: 8(4) Cost/Value: 9(3)
Hope that helps!

For future reference, places like http://www.tirerack.com have extensive reviews and hundreds of user ratings on tires. You can check that site out for a lot of info. I have the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 in 205/55/16 ZR and I like them. I had Dunlop SP8000's before, and these seem to last longer. Only cost me 370 mounted and balanced too, so I think they are a good deal.
