3760, AGX Ground control help!!!!
Posted by sheldon, Oct-26-01 04:21 AM
OK I just got my GC coilovers in and they are saying that I'm supposed to knock the perch off of the front struts(AGX). This isn't right is it? We did my friends car and his were different on the front. Are the collars supposed to be longer in the front than the rear?? Somebody please give my some info. before I tear this thing apart.

Ya gotta knock those perches off. Its not a big deal. I think you can knock em off with a hammer!! BAH!

Hey try to find out more info before you do it. From what I heard, the AGX perches cannot be easily knocked off, and that's why I heard GR-2's are better for coilovers that do require it to be knocked off. The GR2 perch can be easily knocked off with a hammer hitting it up (towards the top of the shock). Just one or two hits will take it off. I guess you can try it out on the AGX, but you migth actually have to grind that perch down. I would call Ground Control for some tech support before I do anything irreversible...

Yup you gotta knock the perch off. I wouldn't drop it too much with the AGX strut because they are 1/3 inch longer than stock. Since they are longer you lose some shock travel, lowering the car and use lose even more. Thats when you end up bouncing off the bump stops all the time because you have no shock travel. Ground Control made a plate that that increases the front travel for the shocks. They want $100 for it in addition to the $399 for the springs. Looks like that would really help the AGX/Coilover combo.
