3613, To all of you lowered Eclipses Posted by Weazle745, Sep-13-01 04:34 PM
Ok, my car is completely stock as far as performance mods go (I have a soundsystem and clear bumpers but that doesn't count). The first mod that I want to do is lower my car. I am planning on buying my friend's brand new VIS coilovers that never were on his car (Selling them cuz someone totaled his Eclipse) for $200. I know it will be at least $200 but what about the camber kits? How much will my total bill be once everything is done? What has it cost you guys?
Thanks in Advance

depending on how low you drop your car....basically, if you go over a 2 inch drop your looking at buying performance struts after the stock ones blow out and your ride is seriously affected....you may want to get a front camber kit (again depending on how low) the back can be corrected using the 15 dollar camber kit mod (found in the mods hyperlink)....and you should, after correcting your camber, get an alignment.....as far as prices go, they differ where you buy them and what brand....

if you're getting coilovers.....please get new shocks too....please don't become a stastic with blown stock shocks and a crappy ride....
if you plan on dropping a decent amount(over 1") get camber kits and get an alignment.....why eat up tires and increase rotational friction with sh*tty alignment.

ask lindsey how much his setup cost him:D
anyways, you'll be payin roughly 200 for springs(key word is progressive rate) and probably in the 300 range for a decent set of shocks, you'll pay 100 for the front camber kit, and like 15-30 for the rear. alignment is usually like 50 bucks. you should be able to do everything but the alignment and the front camber kit install.
just please do yourself a favor and make sure that all your ball joints and bushings are in good condition.....I've replaced every bushing, ball joint, and tie rod in my quest for a tight suspension....don't ask me how much I've spent....

...I have VIS Coilovers and it was a pain in a$$! installing them! U have to grind/shave off the spring perch on the shock to make them fit. Otherwise your car would be raised 3" above stock height. I suggest getting "aftrmarket shocks & coilovers"-> installing it at the same time. If u dont your shocks will blow in a few months and you'll have a crappy ride.

hmmmm.....blown shock statistic huh? well mine's been 2 1/2 inch drop for about a year now with a camber kit so i wouldn't go there. it's probably in how you drive your car.
