This guy was asking me if I had recalibrated my speedometer when I upgraded my wheels and tires because if I don't then I can be driving faster than what the speedo indicated due to the increased diameter of the wheels/tires, is this true?

you shouldn't have to since you are rolling on low profile 40's.
i think 16 inch rims roll on 55s and seventeens come with 50s. i put my 17 inch rims with 45s against my old 14 inch wheels and diameter was the same. If you go to tirerack.com to read about their "plus" sizing, it'll say the same- just get lower profile with bigger rims
