3535, GT wings, good or bad? Posted by Slow99GSDriver, Sep-09-01 02:36 PM
I've heard rumors that GT wings on FWD imports have a bad effect because at high speeds, it pushes down on the back which (I guess) will take less weight off of the front. So won't this give the car less control?

essentially, you're not taking any weight off the front, it's not going to have a see-saw effect. the GT style wings are about 99% for looks on our cars. I'm sure there are a few guys out there that have enough frontal downforce that an active rear wing is needed to complement it. we need more all around...
get the newest SCC and read all about it.....

Haha you gotta be going to like 100+ to have any effect at all. There's a front lip spoiler than puts downforce on the front also. I wouldn't want the back end to unexpectedly break loose at 100+ miles per hour either. I don'tthink they look bad just make sure your car is fast before you start advertising it.

One thing you have to consider is how hard you drive and how fast. A lot of cars get dented, especially by Saleen or GT Touring wings. Like when you slam the trunk and you're not careful, the weight of the wing will put a dent in your trunk. I've seen it happen to a few cars, especially with the Saleen wing. The opposite is that it actually gets a lot of upwards force, and lifts your trunk up instead...

Yea man just be careful if you get a ricer wing don't do like 150 because you'll have liftoff. Ever seen a speedboat crash? :)
