hey guys, im about to buy some rims and need some advice on springs. im gonna be getting 18 inch katanas and i dont want to have any wheel gap at all. not necessarily tucking, cuz i dont want to rub. just dont wanna be able to stick a finger in there. my question is, what kind of springs and struts do i need to go with the 18s for that ??

Well, hold on....Pro-kits to care of "most of the gap" with my 18's. It looks great. But if you want your car to have zero gap then go with Eibach Sportlines. If you go with these you will need front camber, rear camber, and you may need to get your fenders rolled. But it looks sweet.

With Pro-Kits it takes care of most of the gap, I have like an inch of gap left. I only needed a rear camber kit, also a plus.

and if i want coilovers, should i go with maxspeed or skunk2? can do i need camber kits with coilovers?

This 99GS has a 18" 5ZIGEN, 43 Offset with PARADA 225/40/18, H&R Race Spring, Tokico Illumina 5-way Adjustable Shocks, Progress Camber Adjustment Kit F/B. I've no problem about rub or hit the fender at all. :)

UFO: Looks good man.

rfpunch: Maxspeeds are suppose to be good for the price but I have never had experience with them. Skunk2's are also very good from what I hear. Either would be good. There is about a 100-150 dollar difference between the two, the Skunk2s being the more expensive.

Maxspeeds are more for just dropping the car. . . Looks pretty much and thats it. Skunk2's are more of a race spring that is designed with a higher spring rate for a firmer ride.

If you want no wheel gap at all go with the coilovers, it also gives you the ability to raise and low the car when you need to get it serviced or towed (i found out the hard way with that one, they fucked my front end up one time). Skunk2 are the ones that i have and i love them they ride really smooth and i have them set all the way down. Make sure you use the camber kits with the coilovers (i also found that one out the hard way)

sorry for so many questions guys, i dont know shiet about supsension right now. so if i have coilovers, i will need front and rear camber kits right? and i would have to adjust those every time i adjust the height of the car ? thanks

Ok i have 2 questions. What is a camber kit and what do they do, and how much do max speed coilovers usually run new.

Camber is the degree that your tires touch the ground. When you lower are cars you create negative camber angle makeing the tires look like this / \ when you look at the car form the back. Your contact patch with the tires is on the inside instead of the center causing the tire to wear unevenly only on the inside, handling is also lost. What the camber kits do is they give you the ability to correct this negative camber angle and have a solid contact patch and also save your tires and improve handling. Yes you will probably need both the front and rear kits with coilovers, but the rear kits is much cheaper than the front so its not that big of a deal (there is a way to make you own rear kits for cheap that will work find). As to the question about raising the car, if you raise or lower a little you wont need to worry (I mean less than half an inch by a little). If you raise it back up to stock height you will be alright if you are not going to drive like that for a long distance (just to get work done on the car or something). When you lower the car again the camber will fall back into place just as long as you make where the spring was set at before you moved it.

Sorry I cant tell you how many degrees I moved them, I just installed them myself the night before then went down to the local shop in the morning and let them fuck with it. Remember never use your own eye to judge camber.
