32370, How does the upper control arm mount?
Posted by Dspoppa, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I actually mean, how does the 2 studs that mount it to the car stay in place. I noticed a loose knocking sound when I went over bumps, popped the hood and looked in that area. I found that if I kicked the tire that the whole bolt, nut and collar jumped up and down. The collar is a part of the body? or is there another part underneith that bolts it to the car? zthanks for the info

Here's a link to go to that will show you the upper control arm and how it mounts. It has two pieces that mount to the upper strut area, that's it.

Pretty much. The upper bolt fits through a sleeve in the body. When you tighten the bolt it pulls tight on both sides of the sleeve and holds it in place.

yeah thats what I thought, any thoughts on how to fix the sleeves, and keep them from moving? like welding them in place?

No clue on that one. Take it to an Auto/Body shop with an alignment rack?
