32341, What's your offset?
Posted by John99RS, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I have been searching and there is a lot of info, but nothing that was solid for me to make a decision. I would like to know what size 17" rim along with offset you are running with 225/45/17 tires? I currently have a 16 x 7 +38 offset and would like to step up to a 17" since I need new tires. All the 17" wheels I am considering seem to have +45 offset as the only option for me since I am lowered on Prokits and Tokico Blues with camber kits all around. This setup has settle a tiny bit lower since I've had them for 8 years now. I have no rubbing issues and would rather not have to roll my rear fenders if possible. I'm not considering a 215/45 because the sidewall is too small. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

So, nobody knows what offset their rims are?

Yeah, I've seen that before, but there is really only 1 post that helps me. I'm only asking for people who are lowered with 17" wheels and only running 225/45/17 tires. It seems like all the people in that post are not lowered. Also, for the amount of memebers that are on here, there are hardly enough posts in that link. Thanks for reminding me about it though.

You should be fine. I'm switching to a 225/45R17 on my Evo 8 wheels so that I won't have any rub when I install my coilovers. they're a 17x8 38mm offset. If I keep the 235/45R17 tires I'll have to roll them if I drop more than 1.5"

I'm thinking I should be fine too. I just don't want the +45 offset to make my wheels look too far in compared to the +38 I have now. I'm hoping the 225/45 will make up for the 205/55 as far as that issue goes. Also, I know some wheels, for instance the Enkei RPF1s +45, don't allow you to use the center cap because of the axle nut. I know that's not a big deal, but I want to make sure I can use the center caps.

For search purposes only, the center caps do not fit with Rota Slipstreams either.

i have run 225/45/18 on 38mm offset and i am running 245/45/17 on 38mm offset both fit very well...

i personally feel the 38mm offset is the best for matching our fender roll. and body line

I beg to differ.

Per this thread, I have 17x7 with a +45 offset. No rubbing.

Sorry about the lowered issue....what size tire are you running though? Your wheels look kind far in.....any camber kits?

215/45/17. Running RRE control arms up front and a homebrew kit in the rear.

Have you gotten this solved yet? I am curious to know the final outcome.

*Edit*

Sorry about the reply below...was thinking about the alignment thread when I replied. I've decided to keep my 16s and not go with 17s because when I give the car to my daughter in three years, I'll put the stock suspension back on. I think it would look funny with 17s and lower profile tires at stock height.

No man....not yet. I still need to order my new tires and plan a day with my friend to use the shop at Volkwagen. I'll be sure to get back after we work on it.

I think I've got 215/45 x 17 +35 dropped on H&R race springs
