32118, What cars have the upgraded brakes? Posted by rshissler, Mar-27-09 08:38 PM
I've done alot of searching but either i suck at it or its never been listed. What cars have the brake upgrades for our cars? So far i've come up with Front dual piston brakes: eclipse GSX Stealth/3kGT non-turbo
Rear disk swap: Eclipse GS-T and GSX
Is this all the cars that we can swap brakes from? can you use the rear brakes from a 3kGT stealth?

Evo 8/9 rotors and calipers can be used with minor modification IIRC. different lines I think
you do need to have wheels that are big enough to fit them though.

Evo brakes require JDM Galant steering knuckles.

Rear Discs can come from an ESi or GS as well. Unsure about the 3KGT rears.
When using dual piston front calipers from 3KGT/Stealth you will need threaded brake lines, not banjo fittings.

You'll need to search what years, but, certain Diamante calipers are the same part as 2g GSX calipers.

Also can you use calipers from ABS car on a non abs car?

should have asked this too. When swapping a GSX master cylinder is there a way to use a ABS one in a non ABS car. Like is there a way to block the abs on it and still work right.

Yes you can use the calipers from an ABS car. You have to upgrade to a gsx master cylinder. The stock one works fine with the 2 piston calipers.

just looked up the master cylinder from autozone and they list the same part numbers for both GSX and N/T models for both non and abs cars. WTF?? i guess aftermarket ones are made all the same.

Nope, the aftermarket master cylinders are different. When I worked at Advance Auto Parts, I researched this heavily and found that the Bendix 13044 brake master cylinder is a 1" bore and Non-ABS. A rebuilt one of these is part number r13044. In store is a better place to be looking these up as the websites sometimes do not show other part numbers.
