Hey all. Been a while since I posted on here.

I was wondering if anyone has ever compared dyno sheets with heavier rims vs lighter ones on the same car. I finally got my car on a dyno & I was expecting more hp. I had my 18" chrome Motegi MR7's on when the pulls were done. They went to 6500 RPM and the best pull was 175.6.

Mods include HRC Stage II kit with FMIC (no changes to the kit). Thermal R&D 3" turbo catback, gutted cat, Automatic :-( .

With the mods you have, that number seems about right considering you have a parasitic auto. Although the MR7's are heavy as hell...shouldn't affect it all too much.

I don't think wheel weight/diameter would affect actual whp numbers so much as it would affect acceleration, but maybe they go hand in hand. If the outer diameter of the new wheel/tire combo is greater than OEM, then you're definitely altering final drive ratio, which could affect the numbers (like doing a dyno pull in a gear other than fourth with a MTX car).

i think the most of the problem is the weight of the wheel, esp if theyre chrome or stupid wide. theres mag wheels, but they cost like whoa

You can get the Axis Reverbs with hollow spokes, they are light as far as big rims go and look SEXY, or spend the serious cash and get Volks, or step down to a 16 or 17" rim and get lightweight Rotas for a reasonable price

I remember somebody saying that heavy rims did effect dyno numbers but there wasn't much with regards to how much it did so. Reduces them certainly. On a cartech with an auto tranny those are actually some pretty decent numbers, but I think a mtx swap would get you to around 200.

I heard from a friend with a Honda that if you put 14" steel wheels without hubcaps in the front and 18" chrome blingblings in the rear, it totally increases HP.
