ok i'm posting this here bc not many people read the handling/suspension forum... i recently replaced my drivers side ball joint and in thge process must have made a hole in the cv boot right above it. i've driven the car for maybe 50 miles max and just noticed that the boot is leaking. the hole is smaller than a pinhole. you can't even see it, but if you sqeuuze the boot, grease comes out. there was maybe enough grease on the balljoint below it to fill a shot glass. my question is: can i seal it with anything in any way? maybe jb weld or something? cant you replace just the boot? i don't think you can. also, do you think the joint is done after the amount of grease that came out?

note: i have another post in the handling forum about wheel wobble, i don't think that this is related due to the fact that it's been such a short period of time, but let me know what you think. thanks

can put a little silicon gasket maker on it gotta make sure its clean. I don't recommend it though. If the boots are all dry and stuff i would just replace them while you can. If there's a lotta grease everywhere I would just buy a rebuilt axle.

Just buy a replacement, it comes with grease. They are like $10-15 at most.

yeah i actually ended up replacing it. i tried that quickboot first and it really sucked. i don't know how that ever works. it didn't even seal well while i had the car up on jackstands, won't know how it does while driving. i wouldn't recommend using them.

I know what you mean. I bought one of those Quick Boots for my Cavalier, that was probably more of a pain in the ass than taking the suspension apart would have been. And I think it still was slowly leaking at the seal because the two sides couldn't hold a good seal.
