I've searched all over the site and couldn't find any information about Diamante Calipers for our 2g's. I was walking through a salvage yard looking for a rear disc conversion when I found these 2 piston calipers just laying beside a Diamante. Bought em and did some experimenting, so here ya go, Some Q & A:

Q: Do 2 piston Diamante calipers work as an upgrade for my 2g?

A: YES, direct bolt on. You will need the Diamante rotors however; they are 19.99 each new from AutoZone or just grab them from your donor car. Brake lines from a 1g needed if you get an earlier Diamante say like the 94' these came off in the picture below.




Q: I see in your picture you have the AEM 2gnt "big brake" upgrade as well, does it actually work together?

A: NO, VERY SADLY, it doesn't. The diamante caliper is bolted up for the picture only, this AEM rotor would have to be about an inch bigger to work. Take a closer look below. What will work is the GSX AEM big brake upgrade.



Calipers from 94' Diamante ES 3.0 Ltr. V6 sedan 4dr. Wheels are 18s.

The Diamante calipers are ther GSX calipers which is why you didnt find them listed as Diamante caliper conversion!

Well that's great news for me! I know there's at least 2 in the wrecking yard I work for on the weekends, I think I feel another upgrade coming lol.

I'm not sure if that was a Jab in your response, but I know a ton of kids have the same question about the Diamante. Now we've eliminated their doubts and given them another car to look for in the salvage yard. And not to mention, when the salvage yard looked up the GSX caliper it was 45.00, this Diamante 25.00, see the significance?

No. Junkyard comments are not ground to support any arguement. Junkyards do not know what fits what, they are wrong more times than not and they base prices on how frequent they receive certain models. Not based on demand or part numbers.

Last post irrelevant, what is however relevant are brakes from a Diamante. However trivial responses are from here out, one thing is for sure, kids who type in Diamante are now linked to a larger pool of information about GSX brakes or big brake conversions in general. Case closed.

i can tell you why your rotors and calibers don't line up.
if you are using the bracket that you have posted in your pic in the bst section it's the wrong bracket thats the bracket for the rear upgrade and your kit should have come with ss brake lines

not necessarily the best idea
1g brakes use a "U" shaped hardline in the front set up so they require 2 SS lines to replace the rubber lines. so that adds 2 more places to leak plus the hardline can be damaged easily if your mucking around during your install especially when trying to remove the rusted lines from the bracket. how many first gens have you seen with no rust pitting on suspension components?
i'd hate to have this be the part that fails wheen i need my brakes the most.

do it right and get the correct lines made

RRE sells an adapter set of SS lines for these Gen-1 twin piston calipers. they are one line with the correct screw in end fitting.
a full set for our cars is $105 (full set with banjo fittings is $85 from RRE) and the front lines can be ordered seperatly if you need

Dave I missed that in the original post....I guess since i dont have the 1g lines and i am using the older calipers that i have a problem. your right lets also make sure people can see that there is another model that we can use and lets post incorrect information at the same time.

BMX, your best bet is just being quiet for a while.

I have SS brake lines, I have the right bracket for my AEM kit, BUT the AEM kit I need to use the Diamante calipers would need to be for the AWD cars. Hence me trying to sell the FWD ones in the BST.

My brake lines for the Diamante caliper is a 1g/2g hybrid a local hose/clamp/fitting shop put together for me. I mistakenly passed on the wrong information about the 1g complete lines. I obtained that info from this site however, so I apologize.

Thats not gonna happen. How bout instead of attacking people trying to pass on information, you consider your own idea and take a break, judging by your post count i'd say you are past due for that.

The proper stainless lines dont require the use of 1g lines at all. If your going to irritate someone, make sure they cannot ban you.
