My struts are leaking oil or something and my father told me it's best to buy new ones.. Also my control arm bushing ($150) like dried up and is screeching like hell thats an awful sound.. Well i'm buying a new control arm that comes with bushing and all and I want to take advantage and buy me some new shocks or struts but only have like 400 dollars left soo anyone knows something good for this money range?? and if there is a better price for the control arm or a special one orso plz let me know alsooo

You can buy polyurethane bushing and change all the bushings on the car for about that much money.

Shocks aren't cheap. If you are on a budget, buy them 2 at a time. Then install all 4 at once.

Look into KYB GR2 struts. They are basically OEM replacement, maybe a bit better. You can re-use your springs as well. Make the car safe for the time being and then consider investing in a quality coilover set up down the road a bit.

You might also check Ebay for a used set of Eibach Pro-kit springs if you want a nice drop. I picked up my used Eibachs for $50 a couple years back.

Finally, keep in mind that we have different sections for different subjects. While this is general and not so bad, you're pretty much talking suspension in this thread. Moved...

My boy here should have told you that a camber kit is a wise investment too. I dont care how little or how much your car is lowered. If you've got it dropped lower than stock, get a camber kit or your tires are going to cone from the inside out. You dont want your tires to look like this: \___| do you? Some of my friends do. They cry like bitches when they have to buy new tires twice a year because they wont listen to me. What do i know anyway?


I dont think you can go wrong the gr-2s. Being extremely budget-minded as of late, i'll get the most performance per dollar i possibly can at this point. I did my homework on the gr-2 shocks. Aparently, out of every 1000 gr-2's sold, one might come back with a warranty claim and KYB holds to their warranty. Blow the shit out and they replace it. Not bad at around $250 for a set of four at a shop. You should be able to get them for 50 cents on the dollar or cheaper on ebay!


Go ahead and replace your shocks. Get a camber kit installed and when you have money for springs, get springs.

I have gr2 struts they are nice for being cheap. found mine on ebay for 140 shipped I think. and a set of h&r springs for 100. the front tires are more forgiving on camber. You can do the rears for less than 25.

look up 15 dollar camber mod its easy.

or you get a nicer set of struts use your stock springs (for now) then when you can get a set of springs.

Or knock over a 7-11 and get a set of tein coilovers and call it a day.

You should see the tires (sad remains of tires actually) that are on my 16's right now then. The rears coned in a little bit, the fronts were extremly worn on the insides, the main drive side was worn down to the belt and the other had exposed bead and parts of the belt poking out. 1.5" drop on lowering springs. Previous owner of my friend's gst had included the stock wheels with the car. He also told my buddy flat-out that he needed a camber kit in the front due to how bad those tires wore. I didn't argue. 9 times out of 10, i see the fronts on lowered cars wear out way before the rears do, even on rwd cars.

Edit: I'm not saying you're wrong but i'm not saying you're right either. Lol.

I have h&r Springs with a big drop 2+ inches the rear was way off on mine the front not so bad. I have some before and after pics if I can find them.

the GR2 are exact stock replacements. only difference is the logo sticker and silver paint. they even have the same part number stamped in them

there they are my only concern is if they will fit my car because my GIRLFRIEND noticed.. that the shocks aren't the same as the stock ones.. The rear ones have the round thing at the bottom, and the front has nothing and goes into the wishbone with the stock ones..

the first two are for the rear and the last two for the front
But the ones I posted the tokico (first link)have a different style for the front the outer ones..

SO the big question is are they going to fit??

usually the pics they have on ebay are generic shots. I wouldn't worry about it. the HP kit with springs is a nice deal.

I wouldn't do a body kit, at least not in the budget you're looking at. get some factory style pieces from some place like Certi-fit, quality is good and usually less than half of what Satan wants for the body panels. 2gb front ends are always beautiful. a kit for the money you will have left over after everything else will most likely cost you twice as much just to get it fit right and that's not including paint which will run you $500+ at a decent shop to match it to the car

and headlights, be careful, the aftermarket projectors don't have the best light dispersal pattern so it's annoying to get them adjusted so that you can see where you're going decently. if yours aren't broken you might want to try polishing them to get them clear if they seem foggy (unless you have a 95 with the left lamp that films inside)
take some high grit sandpaper (1000-1500-2000 grit) and gently scuff the surface in a cross hatch pattern starting with the lower grit and going higher. once it looks like frosted glass and is VERY smooth to the touch, take some plastic polish and a small buffer and buff it till it's pretty again.

look up "tokico kit" on ebay. Its tokico blues with some lowering springs. It cost be around $400 shipped and its a 1.5-2" drop. Look in sig for results.
