well i kinda did it, i took out my rear calipers and cleaned them and painted them black, 4 coats and baked them for around 1hr 30min and they look clean, i put on my sloted drilled rotors on and everything!

the only thing i couldnt do is switch the front ones, the reason being is that my front hubs have broken screws, and i have the replacements, but i cant take the main hub screw off!! what size of socket do i need?? and where can i get a new cotter pin??? i really want to get my new hubs and calipers, and rotors on, but i need some help!

thats gonna be the problem, i have the pictures on my moms phone, because i didnt have my phone with me at that time, and the only way to get the pics on the computer is if i email them to a email, and thats a little bit expensive.

the part that i am talking about i the part that keeps the hub held to the axel, you know that big nut that is held in place by this little wire thing, the cotter pin, and i cant get that out, i have the haynes book (which i am starting to hate), but whenever i look into this book when i have a question i just get a really general answer that doesnt help me! it looks really clean though, the rear ones looked beautiful!!!


ohhh, dudes, wait, you know: i found the perfect headlight cleaner to get that yellow, or fog thing off, you have to hook it up to you drill and then start using it, is kinda like a polishing machine and it works with water, my headlights looks so awesom now!!

So you've met one of the seven bitches of working on a 2G DSM, then. :7

Pick up a can of PB Blaster at Autozone and be sure you have a solid breaker bar (if not an impact gun). If you need a decent breaker bar, you can go to Home Depot and buy a 2ft section of pipe for not much money. (It's what I did and my breaker bar dominates.)

The night before you plan on attacking those nuts, park the car and let it cool. Soak the nut and thread with PB. You don't need to spray it like you would brake cleaner, but just be sure the entire assembly is good and saturated. If you feel like it, go back down later in the evening and hit them again. First thing out in the morning, give 'em another shot while you're getting all your shit ready to go. Then put your socket on there, slip your breaker bar over the socket, and show that bitch who's boss. Tony Danza stylee.

The cotter pin is the least of your worries, man. Be careful removing the ones you've got and you can probably reuse them, but if not, they sell those at Home Depot as well for less than $5 for a package of five or six if I remember right.

Good luck. Those nuts are a PITA. I have a dent in my passenger fender from using a section of trampoline frame as a breaker bar the first time we tried to fight them hoes. Bar slipped, spun around, and the dent went all the way to the bare metal. It's like a scar.

LOL, thanks dude, PB blaster, i already have a torque wrench, will that work???? i have one that can put down 250lbs, is that cool? i will try and get it out next week!!

on the other hand i will try and take pics of the front with a reg. camera, and try to scan them and post them!

Are you talking about the castle nut on the CV axle? If so I think it is a 32 or 36 mm nut. For that I used a 1/2" drive breaker bar and a 6' piece of pipe I slid over the breaker bar. It's a PITA to get off. Good luck and like Driggs said, be careful or you will scratch your car.

you're generally not supposed to use a torque wrench to take stuff off, you'll break the gears in it, like everyone else said, get a 1/2" breaker bar and a section of pipe to put over the handle.
