Short story: I bought 4 rims/tires for an unbeatable price but knowing they dont fit on my 99' eclipse GS, I called a friend that uses wheel hub adapters on his STI. He gave me a place to go but he dosen't know alot about fitment. I know wheel hub adapters arn't cheap but I want these rims, so I have to deal. Anyways,

Question: I know about adaptitusa.com and I know the adapter I need for the right bolt pattern ( 5x4.5 to 5x100 ) but I believe these rims are +35 offset (held them up to the top bolt and the tire was rubbing the suspension tower but just barely) So I believe I need to take them up to et40 but I need to know the size of spacer to have included within my adapter.

Specs: Mille Miglia Cello 18x8's w/ potenza s-03 225/40ZR's
Stock Suspenion (for now.)
Fenders ready to br rolled ;p

If anyone can help me, would be greatly appreciated. My estimations of the needed offset are probably wrong, so correct me. I just cant find any definative specs for this rim!

Chris I am not positive why you would put yourself through this aggravation but if you say you really want them, go for it my man.

at a 35mm offset you are just barely rubbing I would say the adapter alone will save you. Many aftermarket rim companies suggest a 40mm ofset but if you think about it, it really depends on the tire used. What size if your tire?

Not sure about the 5X4.5 bolt pattern but your adapter will need to be 5X100 to 5X114.3. Ask the company how thick their adapters are and go from there.

If you need to see the recommended backspacing on paper then go to a online tire distributor and look up a set of rims similer to yours and the same size and compare what the recommended offset is. That should answer your question.

Do a search for the term "hubcentric" and you will see why no one with an eclipse should run spacers or adapters.

As long as the adapter fits the hub as designed then ther should be a problem. I ran no rings in my hubs for 3 years and never had an issue but then again I tighten my lugs.

The adapter CAN work its just a question of how thick the adapter will be and now strong. I have never used one but to design one for myself, i would expect to have to alter the stock lugs and use a very strong material. Not sure if billet aluminum would be the right choice. Magnesium would be nice but price would become an issue.

Thats true. But since our cars use hubcentric hubs and wheels if he just buys some off the shelf cast spacers or adpators then it places the entire weight of the car on the lugnuts themselves whereas our cars were designed to have the weight of the car suppported on the hub itself and the lugnuts only job is to hold the wheel in place. They do make hubcentric spacers but they are milled and very precise so as to replicate the inner wheel "race" on the hub body.
It would scare me to have spacers and hit a pothole, but thats just me!

:shrug I've run a 1/2" nonhubcentric aluminum spacer between my wheel and hub for years and have never had an issue. Multiple drag passes.
