30004, Quick question about adjustable coils
Posted by Nightfall, Dec-13-06 04:36 PM
I got a set of adjustable coils for my car and after looking at them sitting in my room for the past couple weeks, I don't think they're going to work. If I jack the car up and let the wheel fully extend, the stock spring has alot of spring travel and still has some tension on it so it stays in place but if I put these on they don't have that much spring length. It looks like they're going to have some slack left if I were to hit a bump that would fully extend the strut and I don't want them to be loose like that. Is that how they're supposed to be?

Thats how they are supposed to be.

When you jack up the car you get ALOT more travel than just hitting bumps,etc..

But yes thats typically how sleeve type coilovers are. I only have problems (a noise from the spring popping off the top hat) when Im going up extreme angles where one side of the car goes higher than the other.
