29973, RIM WIDTH Posted by TheGhost, Dec-01-06 02:32 AM
What is the widest 18 inch rim that I can fit on my car without looking ricey or lowriderish, I want it to line up with the fender lip and have a nice lip on it.

I'm running an 8.5" wide wheel with 225/40/18 tires and thats about as close as you can get without rubbing. That is with my setup however, I'm also lowered 1.3".
Others will probably say no wider than 8", but it all depends on what size rim and tire and if you are on a drop or not. Several factors to consider.

The general consensus is that an 18x8 with 245 series rubber is about as big as you can go without rubbing. And thats with a rolled fender lip. You also need to make sure you have just the right offset for the rims, so they don't hit the suspension or rub the fender.

a 42mm offset on an 8" wide rim will fit and work well, however you will be limited to 225's. I currently have this on mine, which incidentally is equippped with H&R race springs. (disregard my sig, it is an old pic of 225's and 17's from 2002)
