2991, drums to disc
Posted by Brian, Jun-27-01 06:25 AM
I am thinking about converting my rear drums to discs. Im a novice at working on cars too. I read the conversion link under the mods link. In it there is a huge disclaimer about removing the center console. It says if you never done it dont do the brake conversion. Is it really hard to do? Ive removed the center console on my other car (89 Honda accord Lxi) but the advisee says the airbag will have to be removed, etc, etc. Seems pretty complicated and risky if you dont do it right. Is this true?

My point is that if you are unsure how to remove the console and it looks like a huge task....I would not recommend doing the complete job yourself. The airbag control box(cannot remember the exact name right now) is just four bolts.....really easy. It is not the airbag itself.....that is in your steering wheel and dash. All you are trying to do when removing the console is to gain access to your parking brake cables. If you really want to do the conversion, e-mail me and I will hook you up with my home#. I will go over the whole conversion step by step with you. This conversion is a direct bolt on mod....not much thinking required...IMHO BTW: if you ever decide to sell your car, the upgrade is worth more than the parts you paid for.
